  1. In normal times, if you’re selling your home anywhere in SNE and parts of NNE without Central ac or splits you’re going to take a hit. Window units are less efficient and with all the issues everyone here mentions.
  2. Loud awakening this morning-bangers announcing the end of summer. I’m declaring shorts season over. Oh there will be days here and there but as a default, once 70s are the minority of days, I go long. Long pants socks moved back in, shorts socks out. We now start peering more intently at heights in AK.
  3. Squirrels are extraordinarily active and already rather plump. But those lying’ muthufukkas have fooled me for the last time!
  4. Ok folks, time to find the jackets. I’m flying to ORD Thursday evening but it appears warmth lingers there....
  5. 2014-15 had everything work out just right. That in itself is rare. Arguably the pattern Will was touting produced amazingly. But Scooter’s tantrum set it off!
  6. You guys are whacked if you think dews are over. Yeah maybe no more 88/70 but plenty of 77/67 in our future. Autumns are warm, sustainable winter is weeks later vs my youth. So relax until thanksgiving.
  7. It appears that your weather in November the winter will remember....
  8. Most of sne had huge departures and all of Boston metro had >100. Even the cape got buried. It was a perfectly timed pattern with storms. Ironically in mid January BOS was way below normal for the season. So imagine how epic it was from the 1/23 storm through February when >100 fell in many areas.
  9. Well Logan airport right on the water measured 110 inches in the winter of 2014-15.
  10. I guess what I’m saying is that there seems to be potential for an extreme year but to me not enough evidence to call it.
  11. To each their own. It makes sense to attempt to manage conditions naturally first. Working in a healthcare setting I had to get annual flu shots. I almost never get the flu anyway-maybe 3 times in my life. The one time I got it after a flu shot (3 months later and confirmed with testing) it was relatively mild-I was 71 at the time. Treating my bp was a no brainer...my mother treated hers starting at age 32. I at least got to wait till 49. Statin at age 69. I do take a ton of supplements but that’s because I’m a little crazy. My daughter is lactose intolerant. Ultimately she became a vegan and looks and feels great over the past 2 years. I have to have my fish though and half and half in my coffee. My downfall is i kind of have an iron stomach-I can eat anything and it typically doesn’t bother me. Humid tonight, ac back on for a day or 2.
  12. Perhaps. I think there’s a wide variety of potential on both sides-more so vs most preseasons. So while consensus suggests serviceable there is ratter potential-but there’s also epic potential.
  13. Yeah I basically have almost stopped alcohol altogether. It has a negative effect on my BP. I eat very little red meat and not much poultry but lots of fish and beans. I love broccoli and kale and all the other stuff most people hate. My downfall is cheese but try to keep it in check. Rare beer, rare gummy, but mostly I try to walk at least 5 miles daily. Gonna try to get an indoor gym set up for winter-too risky on icy walks but ok with pure snow. My main health issue is a head tremor which I’m working with a neurologist to try to control. It’s familial and the main issue is that it makes me self conscious.
  14. Understood but SAD is real for some. Since my schedule opened up I don’t experience the discomfort as much since it’s light when I get up and I’m not indoors as much during the day.
  15. I think the most important difference between us and most European countries particularly Italy is the strong and lifetime bonds of family.
  16. Well in fairness I was using GFS derived products so I think we’re talking last each other. Definitely an autumnal feel this evening.
