  1. Close enough to nadir now...maybe earlier. Either way-it’s coming! ×
  2. Yes...4 readings in 1913 aoa 130. The next 130 was 3 weeks ago....8/16/2022.
  3. Yikes! Great surf on those beaches though. I’m glad you’re still here!
  4. I tried but just a tad tentative. So I sought smaller waves and avoided kelp season. Before that episode I remember a glorious October afternoon with my buddy going at the waves for hours. By November you need a wetsuit. I was windsurfing with this guy in mid November sometime in a wetsuit in the early 80s. We ended up amid big ships and tried to figure out a way not to get killed…lol.
  5. True story. A big surf day and I was body surfing in Malibu circa 1979 with a big hurricane about 1000 miles away. Got wrapped up in kelp in the proverbial “washing machine “ and couldn’t surface. Pretty much thought I bought the farm and was surprisingly at peace with it. I gave one more push and got out from underneath the kelp bed. Haven’t been the same since in the ocean.
  6. As soon as you started to melt .....gotta try that. It did work for me once in January 2011...
  7. It's raining. Seasons in seasons as they say in LA. We once went 7 months without one drop of rain! Honestly this system to me seems pretty well modeled for MBY. Looks like a nice big rain event without the serious flood worries people in CT/RI may experience but who knows? My French drain may be put to the test after a long rest. I have never experienced basement flooding in this house thanks to it.
  8. Barry Burbank was on a few hours before theoretical landfall and when he said “It can’t miss now” Edouard jogged east and missed-lol.
  9. In defense of Kevin I did a nice walk in shorts and tee shirt about an hour ago.
  10. Sweatshirt. Sweaters are daily cold season garb. T-shirt with sweater over. But tonight it will likely be sweatshirt when I do my late night walk.
  11. Sweatshirt late tonight it seems.
  12. Probably worthless but since it’s predicting a cold snowy winter I am saying that I agree.
  13. When I get beaten by the dews and heat it’s been a hot summer....just sayin.....
  14. Looks way above normal mainly for the first half of September
  15. A very slight hint of autumn this afternoon.
  16. The closest I came was during a ferocious event in Los Angeles of all places. It was around 3/1/83 during a strong nino. The stj was aimed right at us. I was in a bowling league and never got home before midnight Monday nights. I probably was home 15 minutes when the line of storms hit with as good as severe as I’ve seen for many hours. A tornado destroyed the LA Convention Center that night. When I got to my office (private office in those days) I had to strategically place buckets to catch water from the roof that didn’t hold. I have frequently shortened sleep to 3-4 hours during big snow events but never an all nighter and never will unless it’s a necessity such as danger to my family or myself or my home.
