  1. Man I remember Donna well. I’ll share this again. I was in 8th grade on a rainy morning. With the storm not forecasted to hit us in NNJ. I was intrigued by the intense rain and wind late morning into the afternoon. What an autumn and winter! Bill Mazeroski broke our hearts a few weeks later. JFK was elected (sort of) in November and the winter of our lives December and January.
  2. We’ve gradually moved away from the dry pattern. We all may need to turn on the heat soon the way things are progressing.
  3. Until I can relive Carol, Edna, Hazel, Donna I have minimal interest.
  4. Just reading this now-heavy congratulations Mike!
  5. I’m thinking it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get a better snow blower.
  6. I’m heading to Wakefield, NH for our annual weekend of the young once but now old men. Bringing a sweatshirt for tomorrow evening and early Saturday hiking but I expect warmth by Sunday when I return. We used to do this a month later but some of the guys head south by then…lol. Been an ongoing tradition for 42 years.
  7. It actually was a very snowy winter. BOS with 83”.
  8. Shorter days, rapidly increasing darkness. Pretty colors for a couple of weeks. Useless season. Too warm for snow and often too cool and dark for summer. September is ok though-lately a summer month without oppressive conditions. I feel ok by late November with winter on the doorstep. For whatever reason, I like a dark and dank November.
  9. We were held in school until winds died down. I was in 8th grade and we had a student teacher. The main issue was it was basically unforecasted. Momentous events-Mazeroski broke our hearts a month later, JFK elected in November, and an all time winter December to February.
  10. Close enough to nadir now...maybe earlier. Either way-it’s coming! ×
  11. Yes...4 readings in 1913 aoa 130. The next 130 was 3 weeks ago....8/16/2022.
  12. Yikes! Great surf on those beaches though. I’m glad you’re still here!
  13. I tried but just a tad tentative. So I sought smaller waves and avoided kelp season. Before that episode I remember a glorious October afternoon with my buddy going at the waves for hours. By November you need a wetsuit. I was windsurfing with this guy in mid November sometime in a wetsuit in the early 80s. We ended up amid big ships and tried to figure out a way not to get killed…lol.
  14. True story. A big surf day and I was body surfing in Malibu circa 1979 with a big hurricane about 1000 miles away. Got wrapped up in kelp in the proverbial “washing machine “ and couldn’t surface. Pretty much thought I bought the farm and was surprisingly at peace with it. I gave one more push and got out from underneath the kelp bed. Haven’t been the same since in the ocean.
  15. As soon as you started to melt .....gotta try that. It did work for me once in January 2011...
