    Jones Beach already having tropical storm conditions with sustained at 42mph and gusts to 51mph.

    Ok you could be correct. The highest wind gust at my house was 79mph during Sandy.

    I would never call that a bust. I am basing that on the fact that there are obstacles that slow wind speeds down as you move inland, especially at 33 feet, the height of my anemometer. The 50mph is only what I would expect, not necessarily what will ultimately happen.

    Jones Beach already gusting to 49mph. I just had a gust to 30mph.

    I agree the whole island should have extreme winds. The south shore beaches have nothing to slow that wind down and I believe they will get it the worst. The most power outages may actually be on the north shore, many more trees there.

    Yea I did see that. My expectations are gusts in the 50s and 60s at airports and possibly 70 or higher at the beach.

    I have little to interfere with the anemometer at my house, when the wind comes from the east and southeast. It is 33 ft. high. I am expecting sustained in the 20s and gust to about 50mph.

    I would be surprised to see sustained that high unless it is an exposed location like an airport. Even there that is unusual. The beaches are a different story, they could have sustained over 40.

    This morning temperatures Mid Hudson Valley (snow pack) in upper teens. Near by city suburbs in the 20s. Central Park 39.

    Currently 41 degrees there, probably a few wet flakes that will quickly turn to rain

    There was an event November 26 with no advisories or warnings and Jones Beach had sustained winds of 45 and gusts to 60. On December 18, I had a gust at my house of 51mph. I am sure it was higher at the shore. Warnings were issued for that event. This looks to be similar to those events, we shall see.

    Looks like in the Hudson Valley the Poughkeepsie to Kingston area hit the jackpot with about a foot.

    Wet snow here, 36.4 degrees

    During the major part of the storm my temperature was between 34 and 36. 95% was just a cold rain.

    Not that it makes much difference but Central Park reported .2 inch of snow at 7PM. I believe it snowed hard after that for an hour or less but no new snow reported.

    You can see that heavy band of snow on the radar. It goes basically west to east from Pennsylvania across the Hudson Valley around the Newburgh Poughkeepsie area up across NW Connecticut.

    Yea I think the wind going from E to NE has helped you and Don in Larchmont to go from that mix to snow.

    As the wind has gone from E to NE my temperature has slowly dropped from 35.3 to 34.8.

    Wind has gone from due east to 'ENE and now more NE.

    Still just 35.3 degrees here, not really a lot of warming. Could be a good sign for those inland.
