  1. Yea it is comfortable. 81 degrees here with 47% humidity and north breeze.
  2. Yea, and I am some 8 miles from the ocean and we have plenty of burned foliage.
  3. We had it yesterday morning with .44 of an inch. This morning light rain and drizzle.
  4. If the GFS is saying 7.5 degrees above normal for the next 8 days, I don't believe it.
  5. I think the worst of the heat is over but still there will be 80s. Sunday night some of our colder places could see 40s.
  6. Even though most New Yorkers would love to see that day, I am confident we will have forms of energy that give off no pollution what so ever, long before the 100 years is up. Even if I am wrong, we won't destroy the earth, we might destroy ourselves, but not the earth. Anyway, all the possibilities with the potential Laura interaction turned out to be not much. So far here, .11 inch of rain today.
  7. I can see it now, southerners will move north to be in the pleasant Northeast climate.
  8. Looks like the first week of September will have temps up and down to average about normal. Looks like the second week may bring in a more consistent cool down making the first have of the month a little below normal. Wouldn't that be a change if it plays out.
  9. That would be interesting if it materialized. To bad it's 12 days out, so basically it means nothing.
  10. The Gulf was ripe for intensification with temps in the low 90s. Laura was interacting with land until it entered the Gulf making the rapid intensification very possible and obviously it happened. I was surprised how well it held together with all the land interaction, which really was a sign it could explode when it hit those warm Gulf waters.
  11. Laura looks about as impressive as hurricanes get. Very bad for southwest Louisiana.
  12. First storm developed over my area and moved southeast, second storm went west. Total .02 inch of rain.
  13. Laura is holding together surprisingly well despite its weakness and interaction with land. This could become the first major storm of the season if it makes it to the Gulf and it appears like it will.
  14. The current NHC track has Laura going over the islands, Considering its already weak state, I wonder if it will ever make it to the Gulf.
  15. We have a chance of setting the record, however far from a guarantee.
  16. Yea 2005 was a bad year, especially for Florida. After that season we set a record by going 11 seasons in a row without a major hurricane hitting the United States.
  17. I understand what your saying that the SW is in a drought because their precip is below normal but lets not forget most of that area is a desert or close to it. They will always be in a drought.
  18. We now have Laura in the Atlantic, so far another weak system that is questionable on how strong it will ever get. Very much the theme of this hurricane season. I wonder if it is a record to make it to the "L" storm and not have any storm make it to a major category.
  19. I don't think you are alone with liking it milder. I believe the earth is warming, I just don't believe the gloom and doom scenario.
  20. Looks like the euro is similar to the GFS, with the best chance of 90 + temperatures on Friday, and possibly Thursday. then after that the Euro seems to have quite a cool down
  21. There is no doubt the temps have warmed thru out the area, city and country. I am simply saying on night time lows on no wind nights, the city is much warmer and last night was one of those nights. The heat island does nothing but get worse with all the large buildings going up the past 10 years, it is getting hard to tell where Manhattan ends and Brooklyn and Queens begin. So much building in western areas of Queens and Brooklyn.
