Oh yeah the Euro nailed the H5 pattern but has been way off on temperatures and moisture. The gfs is handling short range better in my opinion. The GFS did a much better job at the rainfall this week and still underestimated rainfall totals in most of WNC. The temperatures have been atrocious at lead time and I mean some 20 to 30 degrees bad but it's H5 pattern has been stellar so go figure. I like the look for mid week but as most know im an optimist and this looks like the best chance for snow since November really. As you noted. Honestly I don't even look at the gfs anymore for mid to longe range leads.

Most in the western part of NC got a lot of rainfall from Friday to Saturday. Anywhere from 2 to 6 inches. A lot of highway flooding and basements flooded. But Eastern NC got nothing.

I definitely get that for sure but the Euro really missed today's snow here until the last minute. We will see.

For yall to really score the low really needs to dig and a negative tilt happen the sooner the better. I'm just afraid that a NW flow even heavy moisture laden will be difficult for the foothills. I mean something is better than nothing.

I'm bumping this because the Euro did pretty damn well with the H5 look at this range. Yes I was told the surface was barely cool but this is really a good indicator from the Euro at nearly 10 days out and beyond. Surface was too warm at this range but that's been the problem for a lot of the season with these cold fronts. Now starting today we are well below normal and possibly looking at multiple snow threats. Some people talk shit and some people know their shit...

With the setup next weekend that would be a synoptic storm with the possibility of flow snow on the backside.

Next weekends storm is still there but with a ton of caution. But for the mountains a nice run.
