Yeah today was straight out of October. Absolutely beautiful and chilly running some 20 degrees below average.

The NWS is calling for some patchy frost tonight. Impressive to say the least.

18z still looks impressive with the trough coming in. By that look we would definitely have an early frost.

The euro still has a very deep trough but im skeptical of this solution currently. The GFS has backed off a bit on the trough solution. Ill give it 2 to 3 more days to see what is what.

Looks like blocking in the NA region is breaking down in the future. Look for a weaker trough and not as cold on future model runs. We just cannot seem to get good blocking when it matters.

Great numbers guys! Especially for September! I ended up at 36 this morning under a clear cold morning! That is nearly 20 degrees below average for this time of the year. This weather is amazing!

The euro is still hammering a significant trough coming through in about 6 to 7 days. This is the 4th time in a row the euro has shown this. The GFS is trying to play catch up and was not even showing this yesterday. Im getting a bit more certain on the evolution of this upcoming pattern.

A very cool day on tap currently with the temp at 58 degrees with a brisk wind. This is October weather for sure. Like I said high elevation frost tomorrow I believe.

Todays euro went gang busters towards the end with blocking in the NA region and a ridge out west. Would be a significant cold shot for us. We will see. Blocking has been showing up only to disappear as we get closer to the date.

The end of this weekend and into the first of next week the high elevations could see some frost. Highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s. A far cry from what we has last year.

Yes it has been very wet today.

A lot of variability in the models but looks like we could see a substantial trough and cold push come through in about a week. We will see.

We got cooler but the trough out west will not reach us primarily because the NAO is not going to go negative. For this time of the year though this is not uncommon. The wavelengths will start to change and we will start to see some more movement in the upper levels this month.
