  1. Yeah I know a backroad heading into hurricane creek and over into Max Patch that I use often in the winter to avoid the crazy drvers who don't know anything about driving in the snow.
  2. Also I wouldn't worry about ground temps at all. Temps are going to be crashing and this will happen in the middle of the night along with intense rates.
  3. Someone or a couple of places are going to pull a foot out from this system. With the rapid development and insane rates things are going to go downhill fast.
  4. Those rates along the border county are going to be insane early to mid morning.
  5. Looks like things will start around 2 or 3 in the morning and just hammer from there. This is another great run for the mountains.
  6. Yeah these rates are going to be insane with this changeover and band moving through. Should see some 2 to 3 inch an hour snows in the mountains.
  7. Yeah some much needed rainfall that way after a dry Fall. The wind was roaring through the mountains last night.
  8. We will be keeping everyone updated for sure! Lots of pictures.
  9. I know we are all stoked about the snow but who got blasted this morning by them storms?
  10. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 8 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. * WHERE...Avery, Madison, Yancey, Mitchell and Haywood Counties. * WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to noon EST Monday.
  11. Yeah easily in my opinion especially if this ramps up real fast. Someone is going to see 2 inches an hour somewhere.
  12. Yeah this run looks fine for us still. The GFS has been very consistent with this.
  13. Yeah I mean it could happen but we are like 36 hours from go time and no consistency from the NAM... Eff it.
  14. Lol too much back and forth with the NAM. The GFS has been the most steady of any model so far.
  15. I think they don't put anything out until tomorrow morning but I could see wording like WSW for elevations above 3500 feet.
  16. The transition will be swift here in Haywood because of our elevation. I don't think we see any sleet at all.
  17. After seeing the NAM and the GFS be pretty consistent I think we have a high likelihood that we see some sort of widespread snow even across the region. I do think the area for high snowfall say 4+ inches is pretty small but in saying that anything goes at this point.
