  1. Also looking out the next 5 to 7 days we are going to have a trough in place for a bit so expect the growing season to end very soon with a freeze.
  2. The NAM came in at around 2 inches for region wide rainfall. Hardly flooding rains at that prediction but still a long ways to go.
  3. 6z gfs pulls back even more on totals from the remnants of Ian. Asheville barely gets an inch this run. A very noticeable trend the past 24 hours.
  4. When I left the house this morning it was 33 degrees with more frost. A absolute beautiful morning.
  5. There are big differences between the gfs and Euro with regards to rainfall here in WNC. Seems like the euro has not really been on board with really big rainfall totals. A solid 3 to 6 inches in my opinion still will cover the forecasting area but ill warn people small adjustments with the track of this could mean seeing 1 inch to 4 inches of rainfall.
  6. Ended up with an exact low of 32 degrees and current temp is 47 already.
  7. The 12z euro is basically half the rainfall of the gfs so we will see how this comes out.
  8. The 12z gfs takes the remnants of Ian and stalls the system right over us. I'm seeing a lot of 4 plus inches showing up in the ideal areas along the southern escarpment. Asheville coming in at almost 5 inches so you know it's going to be one wild weekend if this track stays like this.
  9. Yeah the totals keep waffling but I expect area wide of at least 3 inches of rainfall from this.
  10. Yep can confirm when I left out this morning at 4:30 it was 34 and frosty.
  11. Yeah 155 mph sustained winds is crazy. Florida is going to get absolutely hammered with this one. Not good at all.
  12. Frost on the pumpkin! First frost of the season! It has been several years since we have gotten this cold this early. The temp at 4:30 when I left the house was 34 degrees. Still looks like a super soaker this weekend with the remnants of Hurricane Ian.
  13. The 18z gfs has anywhere from 2 to 6 inches in various regions of the mountains. In general I think we can handle 6 inches without major flooding.
  14. Temp ended up bottoming out at 38 degrees with a current temp of 50 degrees already.
  15. Yeah especially with tropical systems. We could literally go from getting a ton of rain to barely an inch all depending on strength and track. The longer it meanders in Florida the less potent it will be up here....
  16. I was just reading another paper online today about the PV already being disturbed very early on in its maturity and what implications may come down the line later this winter.
  17. 12z Euro reduced totals a bit. Still looks wet but not as widespread big totals as the 00z.
  18. When I left the house this morning at 4:30 we had gotten down to a crisp 39 degrees. Several places won't get out if the 50s today. Even colder tonight. The overnight model runs looks like 2 to 4 inches plus on the southern escarpment. Looks like the remnants from hurricane Ian will meander around our area bringing a couple days of rainfall but with this extended dry spell I think that helps with possible flooding. Still a lot of uncertainty though.
  19. Yeah an absolute banger of a day! Current temp is 54 degrees. Ian's track to me is still up in the air. So many variables come into play. But this weather this week is unbeatable besides a raging snowstorm. I echo Ace that there are going to be some frosty spots this week. Leaf season will be full bore after this week.
  20. This week looks like perfection! Still a lot of uncertainty with Hurricane Ian. When I left the house at 4:30 the current temp was 48. A refreshing morning.
  21. Also this cool down is going to be very impressive. We are going to be some 10 to 15 degrees below normal. Some could see clear sky highs in the 50s and lows approach frost temps. That would definitely be something.
  22. The Euro has been very consistent in taking the low of Ian right around us or right over us for several runs now but still tropical systems are a completely different beast to predict.
