Carver we have been in a back and fourth pattern really since September. Cold then warm then cold. We actually had a great Fall here. I see nothing to change my mind of that same pattern continuing right through the end of the season although March and April can be wildcard months for us. This pattern recognition is extremely stable in my opinion with obvious extremes worked in as we have see the past few weeks. The cold snap was historical if you asked me but some have downplayed this for some reason. This warm-up is nothing new really with what we've seen the past few winters...

Dang it was very foggy with a temp of 32 here in Haywood.

Yeah the west has been getting hammered this season.

Could be January will be our above normal month this season and February will be our below normal month or we just get above normal through all the season.

Thanks for sharing! You always seem to cash in up there in the UP. The flow was crap for true upslope. It was oriented west that NW like we want it.

That is because Nina has been driving the pattern. The troughs set up too far west for us most of the time and they get in on the goods. It should change once we get out of this Nina driven pattern.

I can't believe Waynesville is so much warmer than I am. Crazy. Still sitting at 33 degrees.

Over on this side we are running from 32 to 39 degrees.

No this was the issue the further the front marched towards us the drier the system got but we have seen across the whole country the models have been underperforming with the cold and the moisture across the whole country.

The latest HRRR is really ramping up the moisture for the mountains especially the snow with the current model run....

The models are not handling this anomalous arctic front very well at all.

I think im staying up to see this one through. Starting at about 10 degrees colder than the models showed will be a sight. May make a run at negative digits tomorrow morning with a 30 to 40 degree drop by sunrise.

Yeah that will be crazy. Not that I want those temps. That's too dang cold. Not too mention the windchills.
