  1. 76F Saturday, 71F today. Pair of aces this weekend here. Hopefully, the models all fall on their swords wrt a week from now.
  2. I saw this outside of Lowell this afternoon. Kudos to these Peeps! Other side reads: "I AM ESSENTIAL"
  3. Comparison attempts at this point would be like calling the final score in the bottom of the 1st. Could take a decade to unravel all the nonsense numbers from the real numbers and at least take a stab at the incidental deaths caused by the lock-down/shut-down orders. Not to mention life-long scars due to increased child/spousal abuse during this scare. Those won't be tallied ofc since they aren't deaths, but they're severe perhaps even disabling side-effects nonetheless.
  4. Chicagoan's would beg to differ. 3 of their top 4 snowiest winters were in the 70's. Not sure why you like to trash that era's winter awesomeness?
  5. Which makes that Warning read really weird. You're saying the flooding is local at the river's mouth, but the gauge they are using is some bouy way out in the bay? Never seen anything like that tbh..
  6. Those two medical Doc's in CA were off their rockers. Because their take on this goes against the majority coined narrative they are censored? Hmm. What they've deducted based on hard testing numbers just confirms what has been known outside the official narrative for some time now. It makes total sense. It's obvious the initial knee-jerk reaction to isolate everyone was typical, if not the best choice in hindsight.
  7. So, we have the much debated issue of a cold November = a crappy winter (here in SMI anyways) on display in your post. This winter went on to be a mild and "non-historic" season. But, every once and again, a cold November like 1880 does lead into an historically cold and snowy winter. I just think the odds of the mild playing out are about 9:1 in favor, lol. Btw, for a winter that never seemed to gain traction, I did end up with (66) days of snow cover total when stretched from Nov 11th to April 17th. But like you said, it was an unsatisfying way to get to an average snow season. Ended at 97% here. (I consider +/- 5% of average to be in the "normal" range). Great photo collection - thanks for doing this thread!
  8. Yeah, no SH*T! Spending money pretending to have fun while being out of/off from work is the last thing people do when facing an uncertain future. Get real
  9. Don't fear! They will "save" you with their vaccine!
  10. "Are we setting ourselves up to face even a bigger onslaught of Covid cases, too?" No. We are being set-up. Need to reach herd immunity asap to minimize the damage. Hope you enjoyed life as you knew it.
  11. Be honest tho. You wouldn't mind snow if it was July 17th. Once flowers are blooming, snow is not welcomed in my book. At least in November, snow is a pre-season gift of sorts.
  12. More useless out of season snow. World's screwed-up so why would the wx be an exception. M4.0 on best elevated surf's at 11 am. All since is just WhtRN. Never a fan of stat-padder events in a lame-azz winter especially. Sure hope this is the last flakes of the season.
  13. Noice. Playing political scab in the midst of a tragedy. Should be ashamed of yourself! A pair of good thoughts you shared. Thx As for the NY'ers dying at home, I think many folks that might otherwise go into a hospital haven't due to any number of reasons. (you make your list) My bro-in-law recently passed at home, not in a hospital because that's where he wanted to spend his final hours, in familiar surroundings with fam, pets, etc. Even per this post, the "test" may be finding COVID-19 in everybody, and being listed as cause of death without any deeper understanding. Not saying the tests are phony, but the Italian's own gov't medical officer has been hushed for saying that in his professional opinion, only about 12% of their cases were strictly the virus, and not folks with 1 or more prior conditions complicating the matter. Personally, I'd like to get my life/liberties/future/hope/income and sense of normalcy back. The sooner the better. The post regarding suicides is legit. So too, is how many people will have died due to strokes and heart attacks and such because they couldn't get treatment or chose to stay away from the trauma centers. Have fun tracking this everyone. I'm moving on..
  14. Thankfully no hail here, but still a legit storm. The duration of the howling wind/rain combo was impressive as it's been several years of mostly misses in this immediate locale. We did get that hailer last year, but it came without much else. I was in the shower that day and missed most of it tbh. Pretty high returns bordering on extreme just to my west

  16. Somehow, COVID's managed to kick Pneumonia to the curb..
  17. Can't wait to see all the boarded-up strip malls and shops on main street USA as brick-n-mortar is dealt a death blow. Most of 'em were living on borrowed time as it was..
  18. 3 confirmed cases/patients at the hospital down the street. This per my neighbor who works in their IT dept. (from home now ofc) I try to do my shopping in the county north of mine where there's only 5 cases and zero deaths. @Jackstraw Yeah, the country drive is another good reason I shop "away" from my home town, it gets me out of the house a little longer, and offers a small sense of normalcy amidst this bad situation.
  19. Sadly, due to a very unfortunate industrial connection with other hardest hit regions of the globe, we are seeing our "safest state in the union" moniker getting tattered, torn, and pummeled by COVID-19.
  20. Pure Michigan! Traditionally a good place to live and this stat from the state's COVID-19 site confirms one of the victims indeed had a good long life.
  21. Per this article, other nations, even in crowded Asia are having far better success in keeping in-hospital care givers from contracting the virus after helping those needing care. Could our lack of simple hygiene practices be an Achilles's Heal here in the US? https://www.scmp.com/week-asia/health-environment/article/3077345/coronavirus-why-so-few-infections-singapores-health
  22. Hmm. I never remember hearing about the great pandemic shut-down of '57. Only heard that they blamed the flop of the Edsel on an unfortunate timing with a recession that year.
  23. at that girl gnawing on that bat, even if it is dead! Never been a "fear factor" guy. Kinda weak in the stomach for that stuff. Never understood what some folks found appealing about fish eyes either? If I were in a real life, stranded out in nature starvation scenario, I'd prolly just expire versus eating grubs, worms, etc to make it.
