  1. To the comments about how juicy the atmosphere is, indeed. Just came in from an hour outside and it's soup. Can feel the mist/fog on your face just walking around. The inbound radar returns appear to mean business for later. The fetch trails down through Cuba.
  2. About an inch in exposed areas - less on the driveway, with some areas just wet. 33F now. Nearly more than all of last year.
  3. 35 here NW of Vienna with half & half sn/rn with a few pingers mixing in.
  4. The returns from WVA are showing some blues now - gradually expanding...
  5. Very large tornado watch issues for SE VA and eastern NC.
  6. Temp is up to 58 now, despite .30" from round one. Radar returns are rather haggard compared to a couple hours ago.
  7. Noticed that too. It's right on top of the fall line. We're in the purple, but I'm not going to be holding my breath until it's otg. Hope someone cashes in with this - the entire MA deserves something.
  8. Rain just started here a mile NW of Vienna - 57 atm.
  9. Yup - same here. Good to hear some rumble... Nice line inbound that stretches all the way back to Charlotte and beyond. The fetch trails down through the GOM.
  10. For those of us on the elder side who remember the show Hee Haw in the 60's and 70's, our wish casting in the MA region is akin to the old song in the cornfield with Roy Clark and Buck Owens... ".... If it weren't for bad luck we'd have no luck at all. Gloom, despair and misery on us all" Let's hope this year is "The Year" we'll all remember for the GOOD... not the bad and the ugly.
  11. That line was pretty intense when it came through here too. Up to 2.05" for the event. Model forecasts did well on this one...
  12. 1.40" so far here near Vienna. Looks like several more hours of it. Really nice soaker - just what we needed around here.
  13. Currently 42F and .21" for the day. A nice slow soaker like this will be good for the region, but if only a few degrees colder...
  14. I hope I am way under... for everyone's sake. BWI: 36.4 DCA: 24.2 IAD: 43.8 RIC: 18.6 Tiebreaker - SBY: 26.3
  15. No shortage of wind and low temps a few days ago in Northern China on the border of Mongolia.
  16. Can see flakes out in Garrett Co. on several of the traffic cameras here... https://deepcreektimes.com/other-area-webcams/garrett-county-state-highway-webcams/
  17. Down to 42 here NW of Vienna. Feels great outside.
  18. Thanks for that. Interesting gradient between the dark red blotch IVO of Vienna/Tysons and the light green rain hole IVO Dulles/Leesburg.
  19. 1.98" yesterday and 1.16" since midnight. Other than a few spells, the rate was mostly a steady soaker, which we needed. Our area around Vienna missed most of the t-storms a couple weeks ago.
  20. 1.47" so far - From the looks of the bowling ball rolling northward through Richmond would guess I-95 would not be the place to be this evening.
  21. Indeed - Just took the trash out to the street on our weekly Thursday evening ritual. (Our driveway is 500ft long). It's an awesome night out.
  22. 93 here but feels nice outside in the shade with a slight breeze. Doesn't feel like the dp is 70.
  23. Hope your power is restored soon. Our power flickered about 10 times over a couple mins when the initial line came through. Likely due to trees contacting the lines. Normally, the breakers allow 3 or 4 spikes before the breakers trip as a safeguard (according to a Va Power lineman). So it appears we got lucky. Many weren't as fortunate.
  24. Just picked up almost 3x more with this line than with the initial batch that came through at 17:30.
  25. Received just shy of 2" from both rounds this evening. Lawyers Road NW of Vienna near our home flooded again. Happens anytime we get more than 1.5" in an hour. However, this time FFCO Police didn't close the road like they normally do. Was a precarious situation with the road completely under water and low visibility. Had a white water rescue at the same spot a few years ago when a SUV was washed off the road.
