  1. Got only .25” here yesterday. Helpful but hoping for some more this afternoon.
  2. I’ll have to check that out. There’s a ton of lakes by us and of course the hudson to paddle. The croton river is just so convenient and easy for me. It’s navigable from where it meets the hudson at the train station for about a mile and a half where there’s an island. I’d say there isn’t a day when I don’t see at least 20 other kayaks or sups. they’ve been managing the water level in the reservoir ever since they got a new Automated valve system a few years ago. I don’t know what the strategy is behind it but last season early on, they were doing the same thing. The water was so freakin cold that you couldn’t swim in it. People complained to the town, which has a beach and swimming hole further upriver, and I think I heard that it was a part of an attempt to control some invasive vegetation in the river.
  3. Interesting micro climate situation this afternoon. I went kayaking on the croton river around 4pm. The temp on the car thermometer read 95f. Because of the recent dry spell, the water level at the dam is below the spillway, so the only water feeding the river, is what’s being released from the bottom of the reservoir. Freezing cold water. In the gorge, the air temperature at the surface must have been at least 25 degrees cooler, if not more. It was almost chilly.
  4. It was in the low 80s in the Catskills, and I got rained on while paddle boarding. Just a passing shower. Felt good.
  5. Thanks. All good at the moment. Rode Wyndham high peaks this morning. Nice trails. Dry.
  6. We were due for some good weather, April and May were brutal, but this is ridiculous. So nice. Eating outside on the deck it doesn’t get much better (a good blizzard is better). And, I was able to get my bike fixed Saturday. Things are looking up.
  7. round 3 in the books. an additional .17"
  8. well, good for them. We got ours already.
  9. yeah that was a soaker. Up to 1.4" on the day, 1.05" of it in that last pulse.
  10. Meh. At least it washed away the pollen.
  11. There was a really Nice breeze this afternoon. Pleasant.
  12. As much as I luv it up north, mud season is brutal. Worse than anything we experience down here.
  13. I actually was having sex in the 90’s. Didn’t get married until ‘91. if you’re sensing that I’m being cavalier about the virus, you should know 2 things. First of all, i think I had it in mid March, so I’m banking on some kick ass antibodies. Second, I’m taking all reasonable precautions, mask, washing, social distancing, the whole 9 yards. That being said, I’m not afraid of getting the virus. I also believe it’s of paramount importance that we the people, get over the fear of the virus Now that it is coming under control. It won’t be eliminated completely and we have to get back to living life Even if that means some people are going to get sick and some unfortunately will die.
  14. Net new hospitalizations are at zero in mid hudson so there can’t be much transmission going on to require tracing.
  15. Sounds like they want the qualification done by tomorrow because the rest of the metrics will likely be met in the next few days. The only metric left unsatisfied is the 14 day decline in deaths/deaths of 5 or less on 3 day rolling average. As of yesterday the latter was 7. We get to 5 and we’re ready for phase one. they want 330 tracers but how many of the tracers are actually going to be used is a different story. let’s hope the 330 are needed as a worse case scenario and they don’t actually ended up needing that many. FWIW-I drove back from sterling forest today through Harriman and they have a huge testing facility set up in one of the giant parking lots. btw-new mtn bike trails at sterling forest are really nice.
  16. I think the contact tracers are mostly already employees, in other capacities, of the county health departments, supplemented by home health aides/visiting nurses. So they are already here, just waiting to be activated. That won’t be an issue once the other metrics are met.
  17. The river walkway was extended south from the train station several years ago. It’s really nice. By the train station, there’s a taco place, peekskill brewery and an ice cream shop, so pretty well appointed for a summer evening. The brewery has a large outdoor area which should prove handy when the lockdown is lifted. Looking like mid hudson satisfies all the metrics shortly.
  18. Really feel like we’ve turned a corner. Beautiful out today.
