  1. Up over a half inch now. Had a pretty good gust that I’m pretty sure took down the good part of a large tree in the woods behind my backyard.
  2. Nothing here yet. Sitting at 74/74. Yuck.
  3. Back from riding blue mtn. Firm but not dry. of course I kicked off august by overheating for the first Time this season. Dews were forecast to be in the 60’s but it’s 82/72 here. I didn’t overdo it but I’m definitely feeling it. Still sweating after showering. After lunch I’m doing my once a summer trip up on the roof to clean some windows and make sure the gutters are clear.
  4. I got almost a half inch last night. Approaching 6" in July.
  5. 85/75 at 10pm. Nothing to celebrate there. It’s summer. Dog days incoming.
  6. when I went to take the garbage out last night around 8, the dp was 78. That was pretty unpleasant. I can deal with the heat, its the humidity that does it. picked up a paltry sixteenth of an inch last night. Hoping for better today.
  7. Picked up a quarter inch to bring the monthly total above 5”. Bring on the heat.
  8. Sometimes you get the bar, sometimes the bar gets you.
  9. Up to 1.75” today. Had 2 storms starting around 6pm that were an absolute deluge. Soaked. hopefully by tomorrow afternoon it will dry up enough to take a bike ride.
  10. My tomatoes are safe. Added another .3” today and counting.
  11. Up to .86” and counting. Over 3” on the month.
  12. I went up to vt for a week. Came back this afternoon. Rain gauge has 1.8” since Sunday although I don’t know when or how it came. Also another .4” from 7/2-4. Through in another couple inches tomorrow and we’re all good. fog in the valley this morning after thunderstorms last night.
  13. Got only .25” here yesterday. Helpful but hoping for some more this afternoon.
  14. I’ll have to check that out. There’s a ton of lakes by us and of course the hudson to paddle. The croton river is just so convenient and easy for me. It’s navigable from where it meets the hudson at the train station for about a mile and a half where there’s an island. I’d say there isn’t a day when I don’t see at least 20 other kayaks or sups. they’ve been managing the water level in the reservoir ever since they got a new Automated valve system a few years ago. I don’t know what the strategy is behind it but last season early on, they were doing the same thing. The water was so freakin cold that you couldn’t swim in it. People complained to the town, which has a beach and swimming hole further upriver, and I think I heard that it was a part of an attempt to control some invasive vegetation in the river.
