  1. and humans like to complain. same people whining about the cold will be whining about the heat next time it gets warm. personally, I save my complaining for mud season and humidity. fwiw-wife went behind my back and turned the heat on in the bedroom last night. blasphemy.
  2. I’m considering 2020 over with the Jewish new year. Unsalvageable. I’d like to say it can only get better but I don’t want to jinx anything. on a bright note, did an antibody test when I got my stitches out and it came back positive. they also found incidentally on the chest X-ray a kidney stone. So I got that going for me.
  3. only .14" here yesterday. humidity dropping now but still 67dp.
  4. I'm not doctor either so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I figured since there's no joint involved, I'm not going to aggravate the injury by use and its just a matter of pain tolerance. That being said, I did tear my acl 9 years ago around the same time as a friend did. I started exercising on a stationary bike a few days post injury and again a few days post surgical reconstruction. I had a great recovery and was fully functional in 6 weeks. My friend's doctor had his knee immobilized both before his surgery and afterwards. He had a terrible result and needed a second surgery.
  5. Thanks. I really thought I'd be laid up for awhile but I was able to kayak yesterday and hoping to bike on saturday. coughing/laughing is unpleasant though.
  6. Ha ha. I hadn’t even begun to think about the foliage. took a nasty spill biking Thursday. Knew it was damp, have a rule against riding when it’s damp and yet I went anyway. Total wipeout at speed on a wet slippery wooden bridge. Broke a rib and needed stitches in my elbow. Been 35 years for that. Luckily I’m feeling pretty good. #2020
  7. Half inch today on top of a quarter inch on Monday. 76 dp. Damp.
  8. It’s pouring now. .31” in the bucket.
  9. Haven't gotten it yet, but Im anticipating the electrical work will be about $1-1500. If its more, I'm not doing it. Plus another 1k for the generator of course.
  10. They called out the national guard in ct.
  11. Interesting. i had an electrician here this morning to get an estimate for an interface to run a generator. Think I have to break down and do it. meh, here. Some lightning and a quarter inch of rain.
  12. Everything is passing just north of me. Not a drop yet.
  13. Got down to 55f here. my backyard always runs a bit humid, I assume due to being Heavily wooded in a bowl with the lake out back
  14. Picked up almost a half inch this afternoon. thankful for the cooler temps as the air conditioners in my bedroom and den went kaput. Probably a week before the part comes in to fix the bedroom. Drier conditions would be most welcome. i got another couple weeks of summer in me before yearning for fall.
  15. I was in guilford ct the last few days, right on the sound, and noticed the same phenomena.
  16. Pretty sure you’ll be able to get plenty of beer in vt, brew fest or not. Debauchery I can’t speak to.
  17. The summer weather in nne, imho, is far superior to our latitude. That 10 degrees cooler, if that, makes all the difference. Seems when we are experiencing nighttime minimums in the upper 60’s, for weeks on end, they’re in the 50’s which is refreshing and revitalizing.
  18. I bet this Is a reprieve for a few weeks and summer comes back with a vengeance in September.
  19. power came on overnight. drying out and cooling off.
  20. About 5pm got a coned text saying power won’t be back until Tuesday night. Final straw. Looked for hotels online. Tried to talk wife into going to Kingston but She was balking. Went to get ice cream on peekskill waterfront and noticed the holiday inn express had surprisingly few cars in the lot. Inquired inside and their cable/phones r down so can’t take online reservations but they have rooms. Showered and cranking the ac. It’s the humidity that makes it unbearable. This morning the humidity inside the house was up to 84%. That’s ridiculous.
  21. Just got text from coned that my power should be back by...wait for it.... Sunday night. Great. They really suck.
  22. Yesterday I was really hopeful the power would be back some time today. Now I’m hopeless. No sign of coned and trees were cleared yesterday. We must be down the list somewhere which is odd because it’s a fairly big line. a buddy has a generator I could use but all I really want is a hot shower and there’s no way to do that. Also, would love a cool crisp night but that ain’t happening either. Humidity inside the house is 66%. Yuck. I did go to my office and downloaded more Netflix. So I got that going for me, which is nice.
