  1. We had about 2-3” before it changed to mist. Skiing surface was great. Rained a bit and now seems to be mixing with giant parachutes. I’ll take that as a good sign.
  2. I think you hit on something here. The Berkshire towns don’t have that skier/surfer outdoorsy feel. More Lexus than Subaru and pickups.
  3. Agreed. My in laws live in the berks, and every time I have to go there, I’m like, this is kinda like nne, but less.
  4. To be fair, it was in the mid 40’s there yesterday. pleasantly surprised how good the ski surface was at Lincoln peak, even down towards the base. The upper mountain is in great shape.
  5. I’m aware that you can make a technical argument that you’re part of Long Island, but really your worlds away in urban Brooklyn. I just drove up to vt to keep my mid winter vibe going.
  6. Don’t you people have your own thread? Asking for a friend.
  7. 12” settled snow depth in croton. No complaints. Glad I shoveled some snow off the roof yesterday.
  8. 3” of cement Otg when I finally got home. It is some solid snowpack. need to measure. I wonder when the last time there was an extended period with such a good pack around here.
  9. Mood snow falling. Eyeballing about an inch since I shoveled last night.
  10. I had to drive from croton to nj around 1pm. That was interesting. Almost got stuck on 9A south but quickly backed down an on ramp. Best roadway was the tz bridge which had 2 lanes plowed westbound. Thinking roads should be clear ish by the time I’m heading back.
  11. Not what I wanted to wake up to. Definitely some sleet mixing in. 24f. 3” otg.
  12. Sorry. Wish I had a snowblower but u might able to get one at an equipment rental place.
  13. Not never, but in my mind it’s seems like 9 out of 10 times the forecast calls for significant icing, it doesn’t verify. Iirc we had one about 10 years ago. I drove up to vt on the taconic through and then back home. The devastation was incredible.
  14. Heater cable is like $30 at Home Depot. Highly recommend.
  15. I have serious gutter issues on the front entrance to my house. There is a long flat overhang which is great a covered entrance. Keep my firewood there. But it’s a flat roof with no heat. when we get big snow, it just sits, freezes the gutter up resulting in icicles and ice on the walkway entering the house. Have an 80’ gutter heater cable which I plug into a thermostatic outlet plug so it runs when the temp is below 35f. Keeps the gutter clear, mostly. It’s a lifesaver. see photo below. Heat loss is not the issue. The gutter is a good six feet from the house.
  16. This. I basically only read walts posts from the storm threads.
  17. You’re talking about average temperatures compared to normal average temperatures. We didn’t have any real cold temps to bring down the average but it hasn’t been above freezing and no r@#$&n. That’s what’s relevant vis a vis the composition of the snow pack. minus 4f here.
  18. 7 weeks without a thaw. I can’t recall a stretch like this.
