Checked at 1am and it was snowing hard with big flakes and about 3” otg. Figure I got another inch before it changed over.

The groomers don’t do anything to get the heart rate up. That’s the issue. At least if there are moguls the exercise gets blood flowing to the extremities. You finish a groomer and you’re just as cold if not colder as when you started.

Coldest day I ever skied was at Stowe, about 30 years ago. The speedometer in my car froze.

I could/would ski on a day with temps like tomorrow, but only if I could get into the trees, where it’s somewhat wind protected and I’m working up some heat internally. Bombing down groomers at 40 mph when the wc is -30f, is no bueno.

Brining commencing. I’m read that pretreating roadways with brine requires 80% less salt and is therefore Munich cheaper and less damaging.

My p&c here is 3-5” snow/sleet before changeover. Not insignificant.

In my experience at sugarbush, while not entirely random, it's difficult to predict the outcome of a particular upslope event or period at any of the mountains you mentioned. Surely Sugarbush averages less than the other mountains over the course of a season, but that doesnt mean that if Stowe gets 12", SB would get 6". I've seen SB get a foot when Stowe got 2". Beyond my understanding how or why this occurs. In my totally unscientific observation, SB does better when the wind is westerly as opposed to northwest, but I may be totally wrong about that.
