  1. I guess we're not in Kansas Long Island any more, Toto...
  2. Lol, I wonder if this is that Midwest Hurricane Center joker from years back.
  3. The setup is reminiscent of Chariey, taking advantage of the trough position accelerating the outflow.
  4. If a subtropical storm strengthens enough to have 74+ mph winds, then it's getting that type of energy from either a barotropic or baroclinic source, not a messy combination of both. In addition, at that wind speed, it would be pretty much physically impossible for it to not become more fully tropical, since angular momentum would lead to enhanced convection near the center, thus warming the core. Of course, this example is for a storm that started as subtropical, not a tropical storm or hurricane that has begun to acquire some extratropical characteristics.
  5. I just had a massive toilet bowl clog let go, and it quickly spiraled down the bowl. NHC just designated it Invest 91L, and will be intiating advisories on Tropical Storm Gamma at 11:00 tonight.
  6. Is iCyclone headed to Lisbon???
  7. Bump... still can't log in from home desktop or phone. @Wow
  8. Same here, except I can log on with my work computer. Not my home desktop or phone. And yes, I cleared my cache and cookies.
  9. This is what I see when I try to open any thread (expanded desktop, ignore the right side):
  10. Still can't view any threads, thanks to the libs.
  11. [[Template core/front/global/footer is throwing an error. This theme may be out of date. Run the support tool in the AdminCP to restore the default theme.]]
  12. It's as if somebody spiked these peoples' drinks. Absolutely mind-blowing.
  13. I know it's a fine line at times, but let's try to keep politics out of this discussion. Thanks.
  14. Out of curiosity, has anyone heard from Doug Heady, aka Joplinmet? He hasn't been on here since April...
  15. I also see no mention of their own false alarm rate. In fact, I'm trying to think of a scenario where the NWS issues a Tornado Warning, but Accuwx sends a message to their clients telling them there's no need for a warning, and they can relax. Bottom line is that this was the "Perfect Storm" of tornadic supercells... one that formed and ramped up very quickly, in the worst possible location for that region.
  16. Great to hear from you, bro. A lot of people here were worried sick about you. I cannot imagine what you have, and are, experiencing.
  17. Forgetting for the moment that he very likely has no internet access... really??? Nearly half of his town has been wiped out, he almost certainly knows people that have been killed, and he may have to struggle to get food and clean water. And you assume he should have come right on the board and posted? Get serious. Look, we all want to hear from him, but we need to give him some time. The good news is that he isn't listed on any lists of fatalities or missing people, if the info we have on him is correct. So let's hope for the best, and respect that he's got more immediate concerns than posting on American.
  18. My God. It looks almost identical to the Andover, KS tornado. Maybe even better (or worse, depending on your viewpoint).
