  1. Well that's a wrap on winter unless you live in C/N Maine...
  2. OSWEGO - The first case of COVID-19 in the city of Oswego was confirmed Saturday afternoon as the number of cases in Oswego County climbed to nine. Oswego Mayor Billy Barlow announced the first positive case of the novel coronavirus within the city's borders in a press release Saturday. Barlow said the first case within the city "should make people realize that this virus knows no boundaries," and encouraged residents abide by social distancing recommendations. People should take social distancing measures even more seriously now that we know the virus is in fact in our community," Barlow said. "I hope the first positive case catches the attention of our residents, we socially distance more than we already are and we realize how important it is to heed all the warnings and follow all rules that have been put in place to date." Fulton Mayor Deana Michaels announced via a Facebook post on Friday that the first case of COVID-19 in the city of Fulton had been confirmed. Michaels commended Fulton residents for following the guidelines set forth by public health officials and practicing social distancing. "Continue to follow social distancing requirements and do not participate in social gatherings of any sort," Michaels said. "Those not adhering to social distancing and not protecting themselves and others will be held accountable." The Fulton mayor said next week the city's police and fire departments would work to implement "stricter social distancing measures." Barlow said Saturday government should always be transparent, especially during public health and other emergencies, and vowed to continue updating the public on the number of cases in the community. "I believe that knowledge is power, transparency is important and that is why I'm compelled to confirm we have a case in our city," he said. Oswego County officials said Saturday that investigations into positive cases of coronavirus "indicate that there is community spread" in Oswego County. Officials said that revelation makes it more important than ever to obey social distancing rules and cancel or avoid all social gatherings. An executive order issued by Barlow on Friday aimed at enforcing social distancing expanded the power of the Oswego Police Department (OPD) and the city's Code Enforcement Office to charge individuals hosting social gatherings with disorderly conduct. The order also directs authorities to collect the names of attendees and report them to the state Department of Health (DOH) to potentially assist in tracking COVID-19 cases. "We will not tolerate inconsiderate and reckless behavior while the majority of our community is taking the necessary steps to stop the spread of COVID-19," Barlow said. "I encourage residents who observe large gatherings, at any hour, taking place in neighborhoods or establishments to reach out to the Oswego Police Department and we will immediately respond." Barlow also directed code enforcement and OPD to monitor businesses who may not be following workforce reduction thresholds or that remain open despite being deemed non-essential by the state. "The longer we do not properly social distance, the longer we shall have to do it," Barlow said Friday. Friday's executive order went into effect immediately. As of Saturday, Barlow said officials had broken up several gatherings in city parks. Barlow said Saturday the number of positive cases is bound to increase, and encouraged residents to "remain calm, be extra cautious and stay home..
  3. Yeah, but what it sounds like is they waited till spring break was over..
  4. Florida governor didn't expect any new Yorkers for spring break? Lol Close the beaches..
  5. This probably doesn't help much. https://www.google.com/amp/s/nypost.com/2020/03/27/alarming-cell-phone-map-shows-how-spring-breakers-could-have-spread-coronavirus/amp/
  6. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said that he spoke with Trump on Saturday morning, but that the two had not discussed a quarantine. "I don't even know what that means. I don't know how that could be legally enforceable," the Democratic governor said during in a news conference in Albany. "And from a medical point view, I don't know what you would be accomplishing." "But I can tell you, I don't even like the sound of it," he added. Trump, however, said that possible quarantine would be "enforceable" and "restrict travel" from those parts of the tri-state area. He also said any quarantine wouldn't affect truckers from outside the New York area. "Restrict travel, because they're having problems down in Florida, a lot of New Yorkers going down. We don't want that," he said. Florida's governor had mandated a 14-day self-quarantine or isolation period for travelers coming to Florida from airports in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. According to media reports, wealthy New Yorkers have fled Manhattan for vacation homes in the Hamptons, the Catskills, the Poconos, Florida and Connecticut. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said during a call with Trump, the President mentioned the possibility of a quarantine "around the New York City area." "There's a lot of logistics involved and I think the President is well suited to figure that out," DeSantis said during a Saturday briefing. "Whatever works I think we need to do." DeSantis said it's not fair to Floridians "to just be airdropping in people from the hot zones, bringing infections with them." He added that New York officials were working hard and doing a great job but people are "dispersing from there."
  7. Super Mario Odyssey may be the best video game I've ever played, anything Mario is the shit but that game takes the Cake..
  8. Lol Nice!! I just bought a switch light for the old lady for Christmas but we found out some games aren't compatible (super Mario party) , I took that one for myself and bought her the original, so now we can play on the TV as well..lol I'm also a huge animal crossing fan and just purchased two, so we can both have our own island I agree, money well spent..
  9. Yeah I guess but I'd rather just buy them from the 1000 retailers on line lol I actually just bought me a couple switch games online to get me through this haha They can also receive a pretty hefty fine as they are a non essential business.
  10. Seems like Florida is urging high risk people to stay home, anyone 65+ and/or underlining health conditions, at least that's the alert a buddy of mine got.

  12. This is how far a business is willing to go to generate revenue during the coronavirus pandemic. GameStop, the video game retailer, sent employees in Massachusetts back to work on Friday — despite the statewide order shutting down all nonessential businesses. But instead of allowing customers inside, the store is doing curbside pickup, and employees have been given a set of specific and highly unusual instructions to let people pay at the door, according to a manager at a local store. Workers have been told to wrap a plastic bag around one hand to protect it from exposure to the virus, open the door a crack, and take the customer’s credit card, the manager said. Employees are then to run the card with a hand still encased in the bag, flip the bag inside out, leaving the card inside, put the purchase in the bag, and hand it back through the door
  13. Normally you would never pick unemployment over employment but with it being much safer at home and the stimulus package, it's an unwarranted risk ..The regular employees that got temporarily laid off are making double what the hourly managers are, to sit home lol
  14. Unfortunately the wifey still has to work right now..RAC is doing everything possible to remain somewhat open...They have cut staff down to 3 workers with the showroom closed..They are pretty much losing money day after day, majority of "essential" products are backordered through the end of April.. They have been getting ripped apart online by so called"customers" when in reality they are employees unhappy that the store is still open lol
  15. I haven't left my property since I stocked up on meat 10 days ago, I'm making damn sure I don't catch this virus. Lol Even if it doesn't kill me, I don't wanna get sick, who enjoys flu like symptoms? I know I don't lol
  16. Yeah here is an article about it.. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has cleared a new rapid test from Abbott Laboratories, which the company says can detect the coronavirus in about 5 minutes. Medical device maker Abbott announced the emergency clearance of its cartridge-based test in a release Friday night. The company says that its test delivers a negative result in 13 minutes when the virus is not detected. The U.S. has been trying for weeks to ramp up coronavirus testing after a series of problems with the initial government-designed test. The nation’s daily testing capacity has been increasing as more diagnostic makers and large laboratories have developed tests. Abbott’s testing cartridge fits into the company’s portable ID NOW device, which is used at hospitals, clinics and doctors’ offices. The company said it would launch the test next week to select health care facilities that deliver urgent care The Abbott approval follows two other rapid tests cleared by regulators in the past week. Older laboratory-developed tests can take between 4 to 8 hours to deliver results. Health experts say the U.S. should be testing 100,000 to 150,000 people per day to track and contain the virus. There are no official nationwide testing metrics, but private and public health labs currently report testing about 80,000 to 90,000 patients per day
  17. Sunny and mainly clear skies this evening but big changes are coming our way for this weekend. Check out the graphics too see when you can anticipate the rain to arrive and how much rain through Sunday night. #NYwx
  18. SAN FRANCISCO — At least eight strains of the coronavirus are making their way around the globe, creating a trail of death and disease that scientists are tracking by their genetic footprints. While much is unknown, hidden in the virus's unique microscopic fragments are clues to the origins of its original strain, how it behaves as it mutates and which strains are turning into conflagrations while others are dying out thanks to quarantine measures. Huddled in once bustling and now almost empty labs, researchers who oversaw dozens of projects are instead focused on one goal: tracking the current strains of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that cause the illness COVID-19. Labs around the world are turning their sequencing machines, most about the size of a desktop printer, to the task of rapidly sequencing the genomes of virus samples taken from people sick with COVID-19. The information is uploaded to a website called NextStrain.org that shows how the virus is migrating and splitting into similar but new subtypes. While researchers caution they're only seeing the tip of the iceberg, the tiny differences between the virus strains suggest shelter-in-place orders are working in some areas and that no one strain of the virus is more deadly than another. They also say it does not appear the strains will grow more lethal as they evolve. “The virus mutates so slowly that the virus strains are fundamentally very similar to each other,” said Charles Chiu, a professor of medicine and infectious disease at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. The SARS-CoV-2 virus first began causing illness in China sometime between mid-November and mid-December. Its genome is made up of about 30,000 base pairs. Humans, by comparison, have more than 3 billion. So far even in the virus's most divergent strains scientists have found only 11 base pair changes. That makes it easy to spot new lineages as they evolve, said Chiu. The outbreaks are trackable. We have the ability to do genomic sequencing almost in real-time to see what strains or lineages are circulating,” he said. So far, most cases on the U.S. West Coast are linked to a strain first identified in Washington state. It may have come from a man who had been in Wuhan, China, the virus’ epicenter, and returned home on Jan. 15. It is only three mutations away from the original Wuhan strain, according to work done early in the outbreak by Trevor Bedford, a computational biologist at Fred Hutch, a medical research center in Seattle. On the East Coast there are several strains, including the one from Washington and others that appear to have made their way from China to Europe and then to New York and beyond, Chiu said..
