  1. Kind of a minimal aspect to the clouds this evening. But I did max out the lens usage. With the 100mm... With the 16-35mm at 30mm... With the 24-70mm at 70mm...
  2. I like how that drone shows the concept of flood plain. All land between those two ridges is open season for water when the levels get high. Looks like a two or three mile wide snake heading off to both horizons.
  3. Approaching system this evening. Probably was about two hours too early. But still had some stuff to shoot. A nice sundog on the south side of the Sun, when I got out to the pond... Wide angle as the Sun sank into the deeper clouds close to the horizon... Max dynamics as far as the color went... Here the color was fading so the blue started taking over...
  4. Nice evolution this evening. Yellow pre-sunset... Close to local sunset... Wide angle post sunset... A little more focal length, if you call 35mm more, during the post sunset...
  5. I had hoped that when and if the Sun snuck underneath the cloud layer close to sunset that I might get some good color. Was not to be the case. At 29mm. Best color was way off to the west. Best I could do at 100mm.
  6. Thanks vortex! Good to see that Jeffersonville got in on there.
  7. Departing system here again this evening. While not perfect, it was good enough for a small vivid red flash. Here is an overview at 35mm... And a more detailed look at 100mm...
  8. It has been awhile. The time change helps. Not being sick anymore helps even more. The upper sixties helped the most. When I got to the pond. I liked the depth, the contrail remnants provided. That and there is a very, very slight partial halo and sundogs. Although those might be lost in the reduction for the site... About as good as the color was going to get to the west once the Sun disappeared behind the clouds... Looking to the east. I kind of went overboard with the blue in this one, But the cloud colors are real close It is what it is....
  9. If that was the advance guard two weeks ago, today was the whole fam damily. Multiple upon multiple V's of sandhill cranes all circling wagons north. Book it.
  10. A little bit of lightning. A little bit of thunder. A little bit of sideways rain. A nice way to start off the season. So far 1.30" in my tippy bucket.
  11. Had a small V of sandhill cranes honking the way back north today. A sure sign that Spring is soon on the way.
  12. What kind of sound is made when ice does that? Is it loud?
  13. I would like to give a great shout out to you guys and gals and IND for nailing that warning/advisory. I-70 was the dividing line with 60mph between Indy and Kokomo and 50mph from Indy to Bloomington. Thanks for all the hard work and keeping us safe with your timely and accurate forecasts.
  14. Departing system attempt this evening. The winds were still cranking at the time and it made it difficult to stand/kneel to take the shots. Also a windchill of 20 made me leave early to get back inside the warm car.
  15. Your roof looks like it was not cleared just a week ago.
  16. 1047.1 here at KIND. 30.88" looks pedestrian but 31.00 is probably a once-in-a-lifetime event.
  17. It is real interesting just how far to the right my analog barometers are this evening. Only to 1041 last hour though. Looks like O'Hare was the same. So far.
  18. First time out at the pond for this year. Some nice color post sunset. As usual, thanks for all the views in the 2018 thread. I will be deleting those to make room of this years images as they come along.
  19. Quite the drop of dewpoint, 14 degrees; and temperature, 7 degrees; since 6 this morning.
  20. Are you sure. IND thinks it might be close... Conversation NWS Indianapolis @NWSIndianapolis A few #Indy records to highlight over the next 48 hours: Weds Jan 30 Record Low: -11° (1966) Thurs Jan 31 Record Low: -11° (2004) Weds Jan 30 Record Coldest High: 7° (1936, 1966, 2004) All of these records are in danger of being broken. #INwx 1:38 PM · Jan 29, 2019 · Hootsuite Inc.
  21. Do not forget that if the air temp it gets down to -35, to take a pot of boiling water outside and make your own snow. Oh and take a vid of it and post it here. Thanks.
  22. Just what you weenies need. A 400 hour map to drool over. lol
