  1. The browns of November... The denuded trees in the southside park make for a great shadow exercise this time of year...
  2. My 0.04" turned into 0.82" overnight. Might actually have some grass to mow next weekend. How novel.
  3. Yesterday 0.49" in the tippy bucket. Today only 0.05" so far and the last slug of moisture might slide east of me or maybe just clip me. Keeping my fingers crossed. Could use some more.
  4. 24 foot of snow at lets call it 8 to 1, and then say half of that evaporates, is still 15 to 18 inches of precipitation for the ground. Think that will erase the D5 in the state?
  5. The sunset on 10-30 was nice all around. The pre-sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm... Looking NNW as the color was coming into the area. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm... Looking SSW as the color was coming into the area. Taken with the 16-35mm at 21mm... Looking SW at the last of the color up high. Taken with the 24-70mm at 45mm... The last of the fleeting color looking SW. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... Cheers!
  6. The afternoon of 10-30 was about the sundogs (parhelia). An image without an obstruction and the attendant lens flare. Taken wwith the 24-70mm at 31mm... And taken with a telephone pole as an obstruction and not having to deal with any lens flare. Taken with the 24-70mm at 30mm...
  7. 10-28 the late morning gets its own post. For a long time, I have been keeping my eyes to the sky hoping to get to image something I normally only see from the winter mountain top imagers. Some of the extra arcs and halos around the Sun. I as partially successful this morning. I was able to see quite clearly although it is a bit vague on the image. I wwas able to image a circumzenithal arc. It is above the 22 degree halo and halfway from that to the top of the image. The colors show up quite well but the coverage of the arc is a little sparse. With that arc being 46 degree above the Sun most people never look that high in the sky and never see it to begin with. I am quite pleased that I was finally able to see this. Taken with the 16-35mm at 18mm...
  8. 10-28 had a real nice sunrise. The start of the color when it was still quite dark out. Taken with the 24-70mm at 28mm... Max color dynamics. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... As the last of the rich color were bleeding out of the sky. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm... Cheers!
  9. 10-26 has some over-the-horizon stuff interacting with the cirrus overhead. Taken with the 24-70mm at 50mm...
  10. 10-22 was about the morning cirrus and effects. The extent of the cirrus coverage. Taken with the 16-35mm at 16mm... Some nice iridescence. Taken with the 24-70mm at 57mm...
  11. 10-21 at sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm...
  12. I do not know what it is about October, but that month always seems to be excellent with clouds and color. Especially there seems to always be plenty of cirrus around. This month was no different. Started off in the afternoon with a little bit of cirrus and a little bit of cumulus. The winds were whipping and shooting the flags straight out. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm... The sunset was all about the cirrus. Both pre-sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm... And post-sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 45mm...
  13. 10-4 was nothing special as far a color went for the sunset. But the type and visual aspect of the clouds made it cool to look at. Started off with the altocumulus looking north when I got out to the firehouse first thing in the evening. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... Later, the altocumulus started evaporating off and leaving these nice ripples all the way to the horizon. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm...
  14. 10-2 was about the post sunset colors. Taken with the 24-70mm at 50mm...
  15. 9-22 was about the post sunrise colors. Taken with the 24-70mm at 50mm...
  16. 9-12 was about the morning and afternoon cirrus. Started off with a 22 degree halo around the morning Sun. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... In the afternoon there was a weak sauce 22 degree halo, 2 parhelia (sundogs), and a partial parhelic circle (the white line through the sundogs and the Sun). Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm...
  17. 0.21" in the tippy bucket. It is good to see some moisture but I would hardly call it wet.
  18. I still contend that here the fall color is spotty. From this afternoon...
  19. Geez, sounds like everyone got wet but me. KIND had a whopping 0.02". Nothing in my tippy bucket.
  20. Color is spotty on the walking/biking path here. Leaf drop is commencing as it is getting thin, and more and more Sun is shining through this weekend here.
  21. I don't know. Looks like a perfect image to me. Shows the brown in exquisite form and sharpness with some color in the background for even more contrast. It tells the story you are telling in a very clear manner.
  22. I do not care for the smell of dust being burned off the heat exchanger when I click the furnace on for the first time of the season. Then there is that whole I can't keep warm because I have no natural insulation on my body. The hazards of being terminally skinny.
  23. Did you bring your wife so you can have that all important spot report from another balcony?
