Yes, it is. And yes, it can be. Yet Reed yelling tornado, Josh hangin on to a palm as building parts flash by his head and Frankie telling the world that Fargo is going to be inhospitable is what gets the clicks and likes. Makes no sense. But I will continue to show the weather in its beauty in stealth. It just looks so cool that I have to do it.

The evening of 6-9 started off as a perfect cumulus visage. Started off looking southwest when I parked in front of the firehouse. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... Looking northwest when I got to the top of the overpass. Taken with the 16-35mm at 16mm... And even looking to the east. Taken with the 16-35mm at 16mm... The cumulus melted and moved off by the time the post sunset got going. Still looked rather decent. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... Cheers!

Plenty of cloud action on 6-7. Started off with some late afternoon cumulus off to the east. Taken with the 24-70mm at 41mm... A look to the east northeast when I got out to the firehouse for the sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... A view to the northwest as the Sun got close to the horizon. Taken with the 100mm... The post sunset color tried but was rather lacking. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... As I was walking back to the car there was a brief sot of red flash off in the distance to the southwest. Taken with the 24-70mm at 50mm...

6-5 had a nice sunset. Plenty of cloud types to start the evening. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... Looked good vertically also. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm... As the color just started to get going. Taken with the 24-70mm at 50mm... Ending the evening with some large scale cirrus ripples. Taken with the 24-70mm at 55mm...

That makes sense to me. I do remember never having A/C in cars, and having all the windows open and the wing vents cranked all the way around, so you were jamming as much hot air into the car as possible. Just this evening as I was watching the Sun set a gal drove past with the windows up, A/C crankin' and Facetiming or TikToking away on her phone. I thought that back in the day the wind noise would have ruined her do and made making any kind of video with all the wind noise rather problematic.

95 mph straight line winds are wicked. A hurricane in the Midwest.

Best KIND could do was 93/74/103. There was a 76 dewpoint earlier in the morning, but the temps then were still in the upper 80's. Still felt like you walked into a thick wall when you stepped outside.
-
91/79/108 was the best KIND could do before the MCS rolled through. Was kind of oppressive outside.

2022 Short/Medium Range Severe Weather Discussion

I put those coordinates in a map finder and get the corner of Dallas and Elm Streets. Your basement? -
I do not find that surprising as Cotulla is only 5 degrees north of the Tropic of Cancer and this is the second week of June. The Sun is dang near straight overhead now at the median.

6-3 was another minimalist evening as far clouds. Started off in my side yard. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... First image out behind the firehouse. Taken with the 24-70mm at 33mm... About the best dynamics for the evening. Taken with the 24-70mm at 44mm... The last dregs. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm...

After a long stretch of where could only eek out 0.10" or so each rain episode, yesterday finally had a respectable 0.84". Looks like might be able to add some more today. I'll take whatever, going to need the moisture in the ground for what is coming up.

The evening of 6-2 had a nice color progression. Had plenty of cirrus with just a smattering of cumulus for the festivities. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... The horizon turned a nice burnt orange as the Sun sank through it. Taken with the 100mm... Looking south as the orange hit the cirrus up high. Taken with the 16-35mm at 16mm... The deep orange/ sort-of red to end the evening. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm... Cheers!

This is from the evening of 6-1. I am only 10 days behind now. I do remember that I was coming down with a head cold so I was not going to go out and shoot the sunset. Of course I caved at the last moment and just ran around a block from the house trying to play avoid the powerlines and buildings. The beginnings were not much but I could tell it was about to take off. Taken with the 24-70mm at 55mm... Here comes the color! Taken with the 24-70mm at 63mm... Tried to get the Courthouse into some of the color. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm... About as deep as the red could get. Taken with the 24-70mm at 50mm... Cheers!

Summer 2022 Medium/Long Range Discussion
bowtie` replied to Chicago Storm's topic in Lakes/Ohio Valley
Around this area, calling it ankle height might be generous. But a couple of the first in fields are at that height. Here recently the rains have been skipping past and it is starting to get dry around here. My grass is turning brown already. That is starting to really slow down the rate of growth even in the corn. Of course, with the bad news there is also good news. When the condition get dry, the tap root of the corn goes kind of crazy at the expense of the part that makes you money. You end up with a plant that is more resistant to late season wind storms -
The evening of 5-31 had a little bit of everything. Start off with a view to the south-southwest and a nice design of cirrus. Taken with the 24-70mm at 33mm... A nice sundog (or parhelia) on the north side of the Sun. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm... The red flash happened to the north. Was kind of a stretch it being so far away and I left in all the street lights. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm... I was so focused looking north this completely surprised me when I looked back to the southwest. Two red vivid searchlights right in front of me. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... Cheers!

The evening of 5-30 was very picturesque. If you like cumulus, this was the evening for you. The view to the north. Taken with the 24-70mm at 57mm... The view to the east. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm... The view to the west with some cloud shadows. Taken with the 24-70mm at 44mm... To the west again with the cloud shadows a bit deeper. Taken with the 24-70mm at 30mm... To round out the evening. A view to the south-southwest. Taken with the 24-70mm at 30mm... Cheers!

I love them also but even though the temps and amount of sunlight scream summer, the calendar still say 15 or 16 more day till the beginning of summer. Most all of the iris blooms are gone here. Good news, the lillies are opening up.

Sunset on 5-29. Landscape mode. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm... Portrait mode. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm...

These ere a sunset on 5-28. Probably going to over-share on this one. What it looked like when I got out there. Taken with the 24-70mm at 33mm... The start of the post sunset color and a nice spotlight. Taken with the 24-70mm at 61mm... The slight sun pillar is still there. Taken with the 24-70mm at 28mm... Getting a bit *closer*. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... Max red on the horizon. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... And ending the evening with some red in the cirrus way up high. Taken with the 24-70mm at 30mm... Cheers!

I am woefully way behind on processing my cloud pics. These were a sunrise on 5-24. Just a few layers of clouds. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... A bit later with the Sun a smidge higher in the sky. Taken with the 24-70mm at 33mm...

The best KIND happened today, 82/34 and an RH of 17%. Kind of hard on my guitars.
-
This time after 3 hours of 87.8, KIND rounds up to 88 for the high today. Must have had an intra five minute that was 88 or better.
-
Interesting. Nine times between about 4 and 5 o'clock KIND hit 87.8 degrees yet when the 6 hour max came out it rounded down to 87. It was the first what I call warm day around these parts. The Sun felt kind of brutal.

The airplanes seem to be photobombing our cloud pics today. At least yours is an airliner. Mine was just a pedestrian C-172.
