0.84" of liquid here today. Gonna end the year squishy.
-
Nice of the weather to be nice on my birthday. Hit or close to 50 with a little bit of Sun. Was able to get on the bicycle for a spin around town. A good day!
-
Add another 0.51" on the backside so far. A total of 1.80" for this system so far. Quite squishy outside right now.
-
1.29" overnight and this morning so far. Now to see how much the backside adds to it. Glad it is all liquid.
-
Trouble is, it goes from the road and onto the car.
-
No need to rub it in. Damn stratus.

This morning 12-23, there was a very brief red flash. Good thing I tucked the camera in the car before I headed out to the laundromat. Taken with the 24-70mm at 41mm...

Never know when one of these are going to be the last one for the year. If so, it was a nice one. But it was cold outside. I had the right number of coats on but the wrong number of socks and probably the wrong foot apparel also. Oh well something has got to be cold when it is cold outside. The view up the road as I got out of the parking lot at the firehouse. I like when there is texture in the sky. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... The view and texture once I got to the top of the overpass and all settled in. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... I was hoping for some nice color as I was on the edge of the system to my northwest and with clear skies to the southwest. The orange fulfilled that wish. Taken with the 24-70mm at 50mm ... Looking east as the red was heading into the area. Shows off the FEW180 BRK250 well. With the lower level being more illuminated than the top layer. Very subtle. Taken with the 24-70mm at 61mm... And the final curtain call of the reds to the southwest. Taken with the 24-70mm at 47mm... Cheers!

Those three seconds of increased light is doing wonders for my SAD. LOL. Just kidding. But it is nice to know that things are getting better and soon there will be noticeable help.

Not enough orders and too many people in the building so they asked if anyone wanted to go home early. I obliged and was able to catch the sunset this evening. Looking south at the sky conditions when I got out to the overpass. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... Looking southwest pre-sunset. Taken with the 100mm and cropped in camera... Looking south at the approaching reds, post sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm and cropped in camera... The final reds looking southwest. Taken with the 24-70mm at 40mm... Cheers!

Painted grass to be buried under 2" of snow?
-
0.69" of plain rain here last night/this morning.

I sprayed the salt off of the car this evening. Suppose to get above freezing for a couple of days here.

Winter 2024-25 Medium/Long Range Discussion
bowtie` replied to michsnowfreak's topic in Lakes/Ohio Valley
Way to go John. You talk continental US but your maps are of Asia and the North Pacific. And yes, I know it is one interconnected system but still... -
Let’s talk winter!! Ohio and surrounding states!! 24'-25'

? And poor buckeye. This thread keeps getting bumped up to the top. I refuses to sink into the abyss like he hoped it would. lol -
Looks like 18 this morning down here this far south. I have no idea the state of the local urban retention ponds though. I am not going out to water when it is this cold.
-
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Gonna end November on a cold note. 16 degrees at KIND right at the moment.

11-24 After a week of being stuck under an inversion (thanks Lakes), the Sun came out to play this afternoon. Made for a nice time with weather visuals. Starting off with some iridescence in the alto cumulus in the afternoon. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... When I got out to the overpass for the sunset. THis is taken pre-sunset to show you all the various cloud levels, so you have some context for what came later. Taken with the 24-70mm at 39mm... Looking NNW over the firehouse, as the color was storming through the area. Taken with the 24-70mm at 50mm... And the best image of the day. Looking SW at the best color. All the various levels of clouds, all in various stages of lighting, makes this almost look like it is a composite of two or more images, but I assure this is one pass, haul ass of an image. Just a fantastic ending to a fantastic day. Taken with the 24 - 70mm at 50mm... Three Cheers! Good night my darl'in, wherever you are...

Goes to show you how much I know about weather, squat. This afternoon between noon and three the Sun popped out and the inversion was blasted away. So happy I could be so wrong. Looked and felt pretty outside after a week of dull gray (grey).
-
I knew we were going to have to pay for all those sunny warm days. Hazards of living close to those pesky Lakes. Once the inversion gets set in the area, it almost takes an act of God to break down the inversion. Most of the week the forecast was for Sun on Sunday. Now today it has been downgraded to mostly cloudy. My bet is for the inversion to hold the upper hand.

I am going to over-share the sunset of 11-16. Sure glad I took some voluntary time-off from work that day as the sunset was real nice and that darn time change has made a mess of me seeing sunsets on workdays. Started off with a vivid sundog (parhelia) on the south side of the sun again. Taken with the 24-70mm at 59mm... Looking ESE at the cirrus in the area. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... Back to the SW for the sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 55mm... Looking ENE at the color coming into the area. And there is an airliner coming out of KIND heading north to parts unknown above the new light pole. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... Looking back to the SW as the reds started to creep into the area. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... Looking to the ESE again at the reds in the area. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... Looking to the SW at the final colors. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm... And the final image of the night. The last of the color on the horizon. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm and cropped in the camera... Cheers!

11-8 had a nice late afternoon sky An extremely vivid sundog (parhelia) on the south side of the Sun. Taken with the 24-70mm at 67mm... The sunset conditions. Taken with the 24-70mm at 42mm...
-
11-3 had a nice sunrise. Some nice purple/red color. Taken with the 24-70mm at 57mm and cropped in camera...
-
11-2 had a nice sunset. Around the actual sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 67mm... Post sunset colors. Taken with the 100mm cropped in camera...

From today at noon. Isn't there some weather lore/wive's tale that a ring around the Sun means rain?
