  1. 8-27 had a little bit of color for the sunset. Around local sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm... The post sunset color. Taken with the 100mm...
  2. 8-25 was a treble clef kind of sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm...
  3. 8-24 was a little minimalist with the clouds, but there was some color and effects. The red looking southwest. Took the GND and a bunch of moving it to balance the light. Taken with the 24-70mm at 65mm... The post sunset had a rather vivid over-the-horizon cloud shadow that put the blue band on the image. Taken with the 24-70mm at 28mm...
  4. Only had clouds about 2 hours around noon. Of course, I was not going to miss that.
  5. I can attest to this. I have been taking plenty of pictures.
  6. 8-22 was a little bit of this and a little bit of that kind of day. Emphasis on little. Some mid-afternoon cumulus. Taken with the 24-70mm at 30mm... When I got out to the overpass. Looking southeast. Taken with the 24-70mm at 31mm... Somer little crepuscular rays looking to the west. Taken with the 24-70mm at 38mm...
  7. 8-21 was all to the southeast. The white. Taken with the 24-70mm at 28mm... The sort of yellow. Taken with the 24-70mm at 27mm... And the sort of orange/red. Taken with the 24-70mm at 50mm...
  8. 8-19 the contrails were trying hard to mess with the images. Taken with the 24-70mm at 45mm... Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... Taken with the 24-70mm at 44mm...
  9. 8-17 had some nice color. Looking east when I got out to the overpass. Taken with 24-70mm at 24mm... Looking north at the reds. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... And ending the night looking to the west at the orange and red. Taken with the 24-70mm at 67mm...
  10. Twas a blustery day, said Piglet to Pooh...
  11. 8-12 had plenty of alto cumulus. Looking to the north-northwest. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... A neat cloud shadow. Taken with the 24-70mm at 53mm... The color was muted but plentiful. Taken with the 24-70mm at 30mm...
  12. Just one image from 8-11. Just a view towards the east with my shadow in attendance. Taken with the 24-70mm at 28mm..
  13. As soon as he updates his 65" snow stake to an 85" snow stake and it gets some white at the bottom of it.
  14. Thank you Chicago for the overshooting tops. Made for a colorful and gorgeous sunset. A fitting end to summer.
  15. 8-9 as a mildly colorful evening. Starting off with a small but colorful sundog (parhelia) on the north side of the Sun. Taken with the 24-70mm at 63mm... Looking to the south with the low dark clouds on the horizon, the yellow mid clouds in the middle and the white high clouds on top. Taken with the 24-70mm at 38mm... Same cloud conditions as the previous but looking west this time. Taken with the 24-70mm at 28mm... The red flash taken from the parking lot looking southwest. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... Cheers!
  16. This upper low parked over Lake Michigan is doing a fine job previewing the upcoming season. Cool and grey, yuck.
  17. 8-6 had another cell get it's top ripped off. But this time it was to the east of me. Nice showing of the color on the cloud column. When I got out to the overpass. Taken with the 24-70mm at 47mm... A bit later. Taken with the 24-70mm at 31mm... As the top it almost completely detached, and the last of the yellow is all that alights the top. Taken with the 24-70mm at 38mm...
  18. We did double down overnight and this morning. So far 2.09" in the tippy bucket for the event. The best convective dynamics heading off to the northeast. Wonder how much more we might get with the frontal part?
  19. Had to eventually get lucky on one of these convective events. Tonight, was finally my night. 0.81" in the tippy bucket. Nice to get some moisture back into the ground again. Maybe go for broke and double down tomorrow? One can always hope.
  20. This past weekend was supposed to be a wet one in the area. Pops in the 60% or higher and precipitable water in the one inch range. While a few areas got that, in my backyard only recorded 0.01" of rain holding true to the summer trend. I really need some water here.
  21. 8-5 had a popcorn cell blow up and get cut off at the knees to leave me this nice remnant for the sunset. Local sunset and the yellows. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... The orange. Taken with the 24-70mm at 25mm... And the reds. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm...
  22. 8-4 had some nice effects and color. Started off with some crepuscular rays/cloud shadows. Taken with the 24-70mm at 63mm... A bit later as the crepuscular rays shifted. Taken with the 24-70mm at 67mm... Looking southeast as the color was approaching the area. Taken with the 16-35mm at 16mm... Max reds looking south. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm... Cheers!
  23. Still over a month behind. I may never get caught up. 8-1 as a gorgeous evening. No matter which direction I turned I had something to shoot. Started off looking to the north-northeast when I first got out to the overpass. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... Some faint and weak crepuscular rays with the first look to the west. Taken with the 24-70mm at 33mm... Some extremely low topped convection off to the east. Taken with the 100mm... The last three are of the post sunset color and all looking to the southwest. This one taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... The orange. Taken with the 24-70mm at 59mm... And ending the evening with the reds. I like the sliver of the Moon in the shot also. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm... Cheers!
  24. Interesting in that it is clustered around the Lakes. Is that because that is where the population is, or is it actually an atmosphere/bodies of water interaction?
