  1. Lightly snowing in the Fan neighborhood now!
  2. This is exciting! Hopefully we’ll get some break through here in the city soon. I imagine it’s a little warmer here in the Fan versus outside the city limits.
  3. Saying you’re speaking facts, is not the same as actually doing it. Especially on the internet. If your cynicism was to be believed, then it would mean the models all went to hell today, and that’s not what happened. They converged and came to a consensus. Some models ticked south, and some ticked north. Everything else seems to have remained the same. If all of the current data holds true, we will see more snow than we’ve seen in awhile, even if it isn’t as much as we’d like. But yes, it is Richmond. You *could* be right. It doesn’t mean you *will* be right. I personally don’t care that much, it’s been so long that we’ve gone without. Hell, if I woke up to 50 degrees and rain tomorrow, I’d laugh.
  4. I was gonna respond, but said nevermind. Dude has been incessantly negative to the point of just outright blind cynicism literally all day. Like, I get it. It’s Richmond. It’s been 3 years without anything appreciable. But like…
  5. Well, it is still above freezing currently. Were we supposed to be colder than this already? There’s snow and sleet reaching the ground in the 757 where my folks are.
  6. Did the models trend away from us overnight? Y’all seem a bit more disenchanted/disinterested this morning, and like I said, I haven’t been following along super closely, just popping in here occasionally to get a vibe check for RVA.
  7. Is it a teaser? Seems to me like the GFS is largely on its own from what little I’ve looked around, but I also haven’t been following along super closely. Don’t wanna get my hopes dashed. .
  8. Really coming down again in the city! It’s gorgeous out.
  9. On the bright side, it has already snowed more this winter than last—not that that was a high bar or anything. You can only go up from nothing.
  10. Snowing moderately in Bon Air. Just changed over about 10 minutes ago.
  11. Fwiw, DT basically just called it off for RVA. Said any snow that does fall here will very quickly change over to rain.
  12. So, given the trends, what’s RIC looking like? I assume next to nothing, because that seems to be the long running normal at this point.
  13. Well, they don’t really consider Richmond and Hampton Roads part of the Mid-Atlantic. At least, that’s the vibe the bellyaching folks give off.
  14. I’m starting to get concerned that even in a Nino, we can’t seem to score winter weather systems. I’ve been wondering for awhile, if central Virginia and especially the Tidewater have passed some kind of threshold with regards to changing climate where it just doesn’t really snow anymore.
  15. Getting genuinely curious what it’s gonna take for it to snow more than a heavy dusting in the city again? It is only January, but time moves quick, and we won’t be in an El Niño forever.
  16. It is really coming down in the Fan. Beautiful to see after last “winter”.
  17. I’m not sure where else to ask this, but my family and I are heading down to Carolina Beach, NC on vacation tomorrow through next Saturday, and my mom is freaking out because Weather Channel is saying rain everyday. Anyone have a more detailed analysis? Is it looking like a (literal) wash next week?
  18. This is the heaviest I’ve seen it snow in Richmond since the December 2018 storm. Absolute whiteout outside.
  19. Radar looks terrible, like we’re already at the back edge. It’s giving classic Richmond vibes.
  20. Literally. I never wanna hear another person in the 757 complain about getting shafted ever again.
  21. I’m looking out of my car under a parking lot light in Bon Air, and microscopic flurries are coming down.
