  1. 12z NAM was really digging the energy down the front range of the Rockies at the end of its run.
  2. Flurries continuing. Temp 25. Total storm accumulation: 2”
  3. From Norton to the top of High Knob is a 2,000 foot elevation difference. They have a 10k race that starts in Norton and follows the road to the top. I have “ran” it the past 3 years. Some of the switchbacks you could almost crawl up the mountain. Would of been a great place for a ski resort.
  4. Last good band is coming thru now. The flow has now switched out of the northwest. 1.5” currently.
  5. Just to show the microclimates. 41 when I left Kingsport on the south side of Bays Mountain down to 32 when I got to the state line in Virginia. Snowing pretty solidly here in Weber City with the ground white.
  6. Still all rain on the south side of Kingsport near Cattails. Haven’t seen a flake yet. I did not think a warm nose would be an issue for this event this far north but it was. Congrats to those who got some good stuff!
  7. Nothing at all hitting the ground in Kingsport [emoji2371]
  8. Where are you at again? I forgot lol.
  9. Also appears to imply the storm track would run up the East Coast as well. 18z NAM and RGEM runs were similar for sticking snow for a large portion of our state Thursday evening and night.
  10. Sorry, I should of clarified in my question. I was curious as to the last time that had happened for our forum area. As in severe meso one day then winter meso the next from the SPC.
  11. When is the last time that the SPC has issued a mesoscale discussion for tornadoes/severe weather and then for heavy snow the very next day?
  12. The 15z HRRR was a little deeper at 995mb and was tucked more up against the western tip of South Carolina than the 12z HRRR (996 mb and a little bit east of that). The trend is our friend as the saying goes. And all models have been trending toward a slower and deeper low tucked up against the mountains.
  13. I was confused by this as well considering the rains we had over the weekend. I guess the ground needed a good soaking.
  14. Just curious question here. Are the weeklies showing a lot of heat to go along with the dryness? Those two seem to go together in summer.
  15. I picked a bad day to mow. Lol
  16. About 4 1/2 inches here since yesterday morning. To say it’s a mess is an understatement. Prayers for all those effected with even worse flooding in their communities.
  17. Second hail storm of the “day” has hit Kingsport.
  18. Stay safe John! A long way to go for your area in this event! Currently under a simultaneous severe thunderstorm warning and flash flood warning here.
  19. 78dbz on RadarScope with hail marker at 4” with cell SW of Johnson City and Jonesborough. Hail core of 2” passing over downtown Kingsport currently.
  20. Flash flood warning already issued for 5 TN counties just north of the MS border. Long way to go in the event. Not a great sign to see flash flood warnings already.
  21. Rogersville is fixing to hit up with a cell that RadarScope indicates up to 1.25” hail. No warning on that currently.
  22. I’m really surprised the SPC didn’t issue a Severe Thunderstorm watch for the forum area. There have been plenty of warnings issued this morning and 8 hail reports in the database at SPC. I feel like Flash Flooding will become a big issue statewide as well. 12z NAM really upped totals close to 6 inches for a wide part of the mid-state. 12z HRRR showed similar totals.
  23. Chattanooga area needs to be on the look out this morning from the cells in Alabama. Some rotation there. It’s going to be a wild day. Time to buckle up.
  24. All rain now. Probably a half inch.
