  1. I had to stop off side of road on 11W between Bristol and Kingsport. Intense but quick burst of wind.
  2. Already sitting at 32. NAM and HI-RES NAM are way off on temps. RGEM seems to be doing much better. But, it shows freezing rain in the morning.
  3. Small chance of some snow or mixed precip Tuesday morning as shortwave rolls through. 12z Hi-RES NAM shows snow for northern valley. Other models are warmer with mainly rain or a slight mix.
  4. Records highs today and now some lightning strikes and rumbles of thunder. I was sweating walking 18 holes today.
  5. I ended up with 1”. Season total 2”. -11” from last year at this date.
  6. Finally getting some heavier snow. Ground is very saturated.
  7. Still waiting on the full transition to snow...... 35 degrees here
  8. 12 NAM is much weaker with post frontal moisture. 3km NAM has a stronger backend as it moves thru. Interested to see RGEM and other models with regards to QPF behind the front.
  9. I would say a little over an inch. Areas outside of Gate City got 2 or more.
  10. Flakes are very fine right now and not big flakes.
  11. Joining the club with all snow at 32 with a dusting.
  12. I’m curious to see today if short range models back down on QPF after the changeover. It’s happened a few times before leading up to an event lol. So far the 12z NAM holds serve. Solid 2-3 inches across entire area.
  13. 0z NAM with its beefiest run yet! Widespread 2-4 across the state. High totals out west but may be mixed with a good amount of sleet. Backside snow is stronger this run 10-12z in the valley.
  14. The 12z Canadian also has the same push of cold air around the end of the run. Also of note: Tomorrow has a chance to break record for wettest October. Quite the feat after being 2nd driest in September.
  15. Camp Creek gust of 123mph was ruled erroneous after quality control. Gust was revised to 81mph.
  16. All local tv Mets have used the 123mph measurement on social media this morning. [emoji2960]
  17. This morning’s rains have already brought .75 to over an inch for much of SWVA.
  18. Kingsport needs to watch out for hail over the next hour or so. Already half inch hail reported. Also some idiot lit a brush fire about 10 minutes ago. Wind is howling.
  19. SPC outlook today. Large hail and damaging winds the threat this evening across NETN/SWVA.
  20. Welcome! We are glad to have more posters. Feel free to ask anything. No question is a stupid one here. I'm still learning a lot. Weather is a very humbling hobby. We have some very good people here so you should pick up the learning curve quick. It was hard to weed through all of the talk in the southeast forum before we seceded from them. Your right the SE forum was basically all NC. There might of been 1 out of 20 posts about the TN valley and Alabama/MS. But we started from the bottom and now we're here (lol). You couldn't of picked a better time to join.
