  1. We’ll see! It’ll be a very interesting experiment. Glad I’m not there.
  2. If that happens it’s still a victory for GA’s methods. But I agree. My money is actually on some increase + not that much actual business and economic activity returning.
  3. I’ll add that as shitty as it is for people in Georgia, I suppose it’s better one state does this and we all learn later than all states doing this.
  4. Yes. If Georgia reopens and there isn’t a significant resurgence in 3 weeks I would be in favor of most places following that lead. I doubt very much that happens though.
  5. Ohio and Connecticut spiking hard today. Looks like another 2k death day.
  6. Regardless there is no point in debating. Georgia is doing it and we will have our answers in a couple of weeks what kind of effect this has.
  7. I’ve always said May 15 at the earliest with a slow rollout starting with businesses that don’t require close interaction. That is decidedly not what Georgia is doing.
  8. We will see what kind of effect these precautions have lol. Let’s just reconnect in 2 weeks.
  9. Well in two weeks we should have the answer to two things that have been debated here: - Will people actually engage in significant economic activity when the lockdown is lifted mid pandemic? - Will we see increasing cases and deaths 2 weeks later?
  10. The question will then be, depending on where we're at, will the bounceback be significant or will shops open up to empty tables and a significant portion of people who don't want to engage? Things were pretty slow before the lockdowns, and if the virus goes right back to taking off... I just hope we're where we need to be and that doesn't happen when we open up, because we've secured test kits and are ready to contact trace.
  11. WTI now at $0.20/Barrel. This is gonna be a bumpy week.
  12. Oil is plunging to $1.03 a barrel. Wow.
  13. Same. I'd be a LOT less worried about visiting the 60-70 year olds in my church, who I regularly used to have dinner with, if there was widespread testing.
  14. I don't think it'll be "normal" until we have a vaccine or treatment. Even with widespread testing, countries that have successfully used this strategy still haven't opened up schools, mass gatherings, pools, malls, etc. But it'll be more relaxed than we have now.
  15. I really do believe that if we can get widespread mask adoption combined with widespread, on demand, testing, and contact tracing, May 15 is a reasonable open time for Maryland. This is exactly what we need.
  16. Heck yeah. Hopefully we have everything we need to scale the processing of these tests. This will make reopening in Maryland much easier.
  17. Yet another friend has COVID. This one in California. He's young, smokes, but otherwise healthy. I was talking to him on the phone and he is coughing up a storm. Not hospitalized. I went from barely knowing anyone with it to now 4 people.
  18. Widespread antibody testing pls? Or maybe he's announcing drive through testing on demand for the general public. Either would be great and even I would support a cautious reopening on schedule come May 15 with that in place.
  19. Fashion people are embracing masks so I could totally see mask adoption becoming a thing. As for me, my own personal habits that will change: - I’m personally not going to go to restaurants until there is a vaccine, but I may use curbside. - Unless things are pretty strongly under control I just don’t see my son in daycare again. - Movie theatres were already overpriced and shitty. I’m done with them. - I’m going to do more of my chores online. Banking, changing plans, etc. - I am probably forever going to use hand sanitizer a ton. - I legitimately don’t think I’m down with crowded places anymore. They already made me a little nervous. It’ll take a lot before I’m willing to enter a space with a ton of people in it again. - I am not flying until there is a vaccine.
  20. How does Phin manage to throw not just one but two threads into chaos? lol.
  21. I just hate it because I love his teachers. They love him too. I've been paying half price for the distance learning option just because it keeps his teacher employed.
  22. Its a tough situation. At least schools are naturally closed during the summer so it won't be a hard decision to make. Daycares are going to be tough because I can imagine that many people may not want to bring their kids back to daycare. I'm sad that my son might actually never see his daycare friends again because he's about to start Kindergarten. I've been considering just pulling him entirely. We're still doing online distance learning.
