  1. Yeah I'm ready for Fall/Winter. Definitely the quietest year for thunderstorms (IMBY) I've ever seen in my 44yrs on this planet. Just getting garden variety convection has been a huge struggle all year.
  2. Apparently Lake Oroville will drop low enough that the hydroelectric plant will likely have to be shut down for the first time due to low lake levels in the next few weeks.
  3. Temps are up near 90 this afternoon but it feels considerably more comfortable out there compared to yesterday when we had dews near 80. Dews have mixed down into the lower 60s this afternoon.
  4. As expected storms blew up just east and southeast this afternoon. At least it was nice to see cu billowing upward on it's way to give relief to areas downwind.
  5. Currently 91/79/107 here. Dew hit 80 briefly earlier. Some locations around have 80 degree dews atm. At least there's a breeze out there today, if not it would be pretty stifling.
  6. 90 here and at MLI today. Looks like a slight chance for a storm tomorrow, but best odds are east and southeast of this area.
  7. 89'd at both MLI and here today. Peak heat index reached 99 here.
  8. MSP currently with 4 miles in smoke, while nearby Eden Prairie is at 2 miles.
  9. Smoky skies today. Sure been a lot of smoke the past several years. Maybe that's why our Decembers have been sucking. JK
  10. Ahh, can't believe it's already been a year since I mentioned this memory, gotta do it every year lol. This is part of the epic afd DVN constructed on the afternoon 10 years ago today. Ahh the memories. SHORT WAVE COMBINED WITH FRONTAL BOUNDARY AND HIGH CAPES SUGGEST POTENTIAL FOR EXPLOSIVE DEVELOPMENT OF THUNDERSTORMS IF CAP BREAKS. IF THIS SCENARIO PANS OUT THEN A DESTRUCTIVE DERECHO WITH WINDS OVER 100 MPH IS CERTAINLY POSSIBLE. CORFIDI VECTORS WOULD TAKE THE THUNDERSTORMS SOUTHEAST ACROSS MUCH OF THE DVN CWA.
  11. Picked up 2.52" since yesterday afternoon, up to 3.58" for July now.
  12. Picked up another 0.73" this evening, had 45mph winds from the garden variety line of storms. Up to almost 2" in past 12hrs, was briefly in tor watch earlier which was kind of exciting lol.
  13. First legit storm of the year finally for here today. Picked up 1.18" of rain.
  14. If mother nature is in the mood to even the score then hopefully she'll give this whole sub a substantially snowy December to make up for the past several duds.
  15. Looking forward to some more Iowa sloppy seconds/anvil rain tomorrow night lol.
  16. Most boring spring/summer for weather in my lifetime no doubt about it. Hopefully something in late July or August helps to make up for it. Picked up 0.13 of light rain earlier.
  17. The last time Death Valley was <100 degrees (at least on the hourly obs) was early Tuesday July 6th. They bottomed out at 103 this morning (hourly ob), and hit 130 on Friday. Picked up 0.39" of rain here early this morning.
  18. Only 68 for a high today. Have had steady extremely light rain all afternoon, picked up 0.12", 0.15" fell last evening.
  19. Indeed. This has been the summer of endless anvil rains. Right on cue there's a blob of it heading in now lol. Pretty exciting stuff! Burlington IA about to get rolled with a nice hailer.
  20. Prob jumping the gun but went ahead and made a map for xmas eve about 6pm.
  21. Looking forward to some more anvil rains tomorrow afternoon/night.
  22. Picked up 0.21" of anvil rain this afternoon.
  23. Hit 90 here and also at MLI today.
