  1. New Euro drops 0.7-0.8" of precip mainly in the form of snow on the QCA through late Sat. Even with <10:1 LSRs that would still yield over 5" of snow. Thinking the 2-4" call will bust low, and 4-7" would likely be the better call for the official total. Due to melting/compaction/lull periods the net accumulation will still likely be <4" however.
  2. Some nice snow globe action with some nice enhanced blobs of snow returns moving through. Pushing an inch now and adding up nicely.
  3. Some beefier returns have moved in over the past hour and has resulted in a good dusting. No problem sticking on paved surfaces with the temp at 30.
  4. So far the snow is so light it's not accumulating, but just nw there's a more enhanced band that may be adding up a bit for those peeps.
  5. First flakes (flurries) have arrived here. The road to 1ft begins.
  6. Sticking with 2-4" for the QCA. Looks like the window for the best rates will come later Friday into Friday evening.
  7. Here the precip will start about 9hrs after it started there, and at night of course lol. I'm sure during the course of this 60hr precip window some of the snow will fall during the day.
  8. Think I'll go 2-4" for this area for a first guess. More might actually fall but doubt it will physically add up to much more than that. Could be a situation where MLI reports a grand total of like 5.5", but to the public it will seem more like 3", etc. Kind of a lame system in that regard.
  9. Kind of looking like a long-duration pixie dust fest, with drizzle outside of heavier radar returns kind of system. Prob 1-3 type of an event at best.
  10. Looks like you're cashing in this morning from that band. How much have you received?
  11. First subzero reading of the season this morning here at -2. Getting a few flurries now and again.
  12. Euro throwing you a bone with a nice snowstorm. GFS says It's an ALEK special.
  13. Getting 45mph gusts with the strong CAA. Temp has dropped almost 20 degrees since this morning, back down to 15. Snow has compacted a bit, down to about 4", with a nice crusty top layer.
  14. Nice glaze of a few tenths or so. Not bad after almost 5" of snow. Quality storm system.
  15. Same here. Have beefy returns overhead again and it's a driving rain (freezing) with no sleet. Temp up to 28, but still glazing very efficiently. EDIT: MLI finished with 5.3" of snow.
  16. Nice little glaze has formed as what is falling is freezing very efficiently with temp still well below freezing at 27.
  17. Pure freezing rain falling under these lighter radar returns. When the heavier returns move overhead we get bursts of sleet to mix in.
  18. I think I remember seeing a post from him awhile back saying he was going somewhere tropical on vacation.
  19. lol @ nano pingers. HRRR showing nice bonus snows for the east half of IA into far western IL tomorrow morning. Hoping to squeeze out a good half inch to inch out of that to induce ground blizzard around midday.
  20. This must be how it feels to be in the northeast during one of their coastal events. Not very often we get several inches followed by a decent period of sleet/freezing rain. Usually it's a bit of snow followed by lots of mixed crap, or dry slot, etc. Kind of hard to get a solid front end thump it seems in these parts. Enjoyable storm!
  21. Came up with an average depth of 4.8". Very difficult measuring event. Had to take many more measurements than normal. A heavy/driving sleet falling right now. Very loud against the east facing windows. The sleet, and small bit of freezing rain has completely shut off the blowing/drifting of the snow.
  22. 50/50 freezing rain/sleet. The snow has very quickly completely shut off.
  23. I haven't looked since before I left for work early this morning, but back then the HRRR was showing the snow/mix line reaching here between 7-8pm, so whatever that run was nailed it perfectly for this particular area.
