  1. Seems like the UK is always weak/southeast with every system for as long as I have been following models. In the end it usually caves to a stronger nw system, unless we have a season like this one. If it ends up being right it's probably for the wrong reasons.
  2. Kuchera from WxBell even more clownish compared to the COD kuchera. Gives Burlington IA just under 2ft of snow. About 18" for the QC/north Chicago area.
  3. Let's hope the hook doesn't bend, or nick in the line doesn't break it lol.
  4. Said it somewhere else before, but to me Feb 2017 is as impressive, or maybe even more impressive than Morch was, at least for this particular area. Very nice out today with temps in the low 50s and full sun. Lots of people out walking/jogging. Little do they know a foot of snow could be looming in coming days.
  5. You guys are waaaay overdue for a footer. Hopefully this one can get 'er done.
  6. Yeah, I was rather uncomfortable being in the middle of the highest snow totals for so many runs. Would rather be on the edge one way or the other at this range lol. Would hate to root for a slightly weaker/further southeast system, but if that what it takes to get into the good snows vs dry slot, I'll take it. Based on the relative weirdness with the phasing of this system we will probably see little run-to-run changes right up until the day of the storm. So basically like every other system this winter ha.
  7. I can go for another bout of 34 and rain. Would like a dash of sleet thrown in this time though please.
  8. Sounds pretty exciting. Hopefully a ribbon of 1-3" can be deposited for a lucky few.
  9. IL has a lot of birdfart, 2-scan naders that pad the amounts. NW IL is a dead zone for strong naders (luckily). This area is def overdue for a strong/violent tornado.
  10. Lol. They need to just cut their losses and decommission the current version of the GFS, and put the old version back in use. Time to go back to the drawing board boys. post a photo online
  11. As expected the HRRR from yesterday was way too warm that far north. If we could have had slightly better WAA today ahead of the front this could have been a nice little thunder event at least.
  12. Absolute miserable day here with off and on rain and temps in the mid 30s. Picked up 0.23".
  13. Had a thin glaze from freezing rain early this morning. Just regular rain now though as we've warmed above freezing. About 30 miles to the north in Milledgeville there's a report of 1.3" of snow.
  14. HRRR builds enough cape (200-400J/kg) to fire off some thunderstorms over the east half of IA into western IL tomorrow afternoon/eve. Temps are about 10 degrees warmer than other guidance shows, so chances of that happening are very low. If the HRRR were somehow right there would actually be a low-end risk for severe out in that area given decent shear profiles.
  15. Yeah here as well. Two weeks from today it will be met spring. I'm ready for some thunder.
  16. The ICON is about as worthless as tits on a rattlesnake, or a screen door on a submarine.
  17. -11 here. Across the river at Clinton they are at -14. Black River Falls WI down to -33. EDIT: Just hit -12 here.
  18. Already at -5 here, which is the coldest of the season so far, and the 2nd below zero day of the season. Black River Falls WI is down to -24.
  19. Lots of snow blowing in from the open fields to the west today. Some pretty deep drifts back by the tree line. Definitely feels like deep winter out there today.
  20. 3.1" as of midnight. Still snowing but rates outside the enhanced bands are very weak. Would love for the trees to be this caked with snow tomorrow morning for some excellent pics, but the winds will have removed most of it by then. Arctic front about a half hour away.
  21. Yeah I went out a little while ago and removed most of the snow. Figured I'd get it off now before it freezes up some, as there is a decent amount of water in it. Very peaceful out there with the snow gently raining down, with zero wind. Very quiet out as well.
  22. Up to 2.8". Measuring is quite easy, as the snow has been coming straight down the whole time. Very large flakes again with another enhanced band moving through.
  23. Yeah we've gotten lucky with two real nice enhanced bands. Those both added up quickly. Snow pack is really lumpy looking from all the large flakes.
