  1. Could see dews dip into the 40s tomorrow or Wednesday. That's pretty tough to do this time of the year with crops in full swing. Top notch weather for sure.
  2. Picked up 0.26" from a passing thundershower around midday.
  3. Geez. What state's Kitchener in? Never heard of it lol.
  4. This little feature persisted for a good 10 minutes to the southeast of work an hour ago or so underneath a light rain shower. When it started to dissipate it looked like it roped out. Pretty sure this was a funnel.
  5. Sorry to beat a dead horse with this, but as a weather enthusiast this is just flat out amazing to me. It's only mid-morning there local time, and the heat index is already up to 151 at Bandar Iran with a temp/dew of 99/91. Several other locations with dews in the upper 80s/low 90s in the region lends credence to the obs legitimacy. A short ways to the west at Abadan the dew is substantially lower at 54, where the wind is blowing off shore. Needless to say if you lived in that area you'd be constantly praying for the wind to blow off shore as opposed to on shore lol. On a side note, Kuwait City is already at 109 actual temp as of their 8am ob lol. What an interesting region of weather. EDIT: There were 6 locations with dews between 90-91 at the 04z ob, the obs below are from 05z (which has 4 90+ dew obs). EDIT2: Kuwait City actual temp 115 at 9am. Click image for larger picture.
  6. A brief but very heavy shower dropped 0.23" late this morning. That brings us to 3.98" for July.
  7. Iowa does it again. A tornado has been reported out southwest of Cedar Rapids a short while ago.
  8. 90 at MLI and here today. Some nice towers billowing up in the northern sky atm.
  9. Some incredible heat index readings on the other side of the world around the Persion Gulf this morning (afternoon there). On shore flow off the blazingly warm Persion Gulf is blowing in extreme humidity, with dews in the mid 80s in several locations. One location (Jask in Iran) has a dew of 90. The big winner for what must be absolute hell on Earth goes to Bandar Iran, where they are at 109/86 with a heat index of 148 lol.
  10. It probably was, but that storm would probably have had to be 100kft tall for me to see it from here.
  11. Was walking out to my truck after work a short while ago and noticed a large thunderhead waaaaay down on the distant northeast horizon. Could tell it was quite strong, and kind of guessed it could be way up by Milwaukee. Was quite surprised to see that the storm is actually way up by Sheboygan!
  12. Got about a half inch of rain this evening, and a pretty nice light show for a few hours. Much heavier rains all around us, but I'll take what we got, as it looks dry for the next 7-10 days as Hawkeye said.
  13. Hit 93 at MLI and here, heat index reached 109/108 here/MLI. Dewpoint peaked at 79 here.
  14. Dews are barely above 70 up in Chicagoland where temps are hottest. Must be some deeper mixing going on or something. Out this way dews have stayed AOA 77 most of the day and temps are several degrees "cooler". Heat index values are higher here though, and pushing 110 at times. EDIT: Looks like a rogue storm has popped right over the city, and is heading towards ALEK lol
  15. 92/79/108 here. At least there's a breeze unlike yesterday. Still a shot at bumping 80 dewpoint this afternoon.
  16. They had a late rally and hit 90 after climate data was posted.
  17. What was looking like a slam dunk 90+ day was a fail at MLI, as they were 89'd under thicker clouds than expected lol. Hit 91 here, with a peak HI of 105. Dews have made it to between 76-79 for the majority of the DVN cwa, which is a few degrees higher than what the 3km NAM had been forecasting. It's been indicating even higher dews for tomorrow on the past several runs, so it looks like tomorrow we may be in for 79-82 degree dews.
  18. Looks like potentially 3 days (Fri-Sun) AOA 90 here. Low 90s Fri/Sat, and maybe mid 90s on Sunday for what could be the hottest temp of the year so far at MLI if they can break 94. Then back to 80s Mon and beyond.
  19. Just under a half inch of rain today with a little thunder.
  20. Hottest temp this summer so far at MLI is only 94. Pretty lame if that ends up being the hottest of the summer, but there is more heat coming this weekend. They've had lots of upper 80s this summer, so there has been lots of lost opportunity in accumulating AOA 90 degree days as well. All in all a forgettable summer to be sure in terms of heat for this area if we don't have a big rally later this month/August.
  21. Storms this morning got close enough you could hear the thunder. Could have used a little more rain.
  22. 15 ob sites in Iowa reporting a dew AOA 80 atm, 4 in IL.
  23. Snip from a classic DVN AFD 9 years ago today... SHORT WAVE COMBINED WITH FRONTAL BOUNDARY AND HIGH CAPES SUGGEST POTENTIAL FOR EXPLOSIVE DEVELOPMENT OF THUNDERSTORMS IF CAP BREAKS. IF THIS SCENARIO PANS OUT THEN A DESTRUCTIVE DERECHO WITH WINDS OVER 100 MPH IS CERTAINLY POSSIBLE. CORFIDI VECTORS WOULD TAKE THE THUNDERSTORMS SOUTHEAST ACROSS MUCH OF THE DVN CWA.
