  1. 1918 & 1919 had some wild fatality numbers with both a brutal pandemic and major war. Combine that with all the other diseases of the time, not great.
  2. https://www.wsj.com/articles/michigan-woman-defies-state-travel-advisory-11619025586?mod=trending_now_opn_5 Rules for thee and not for me. In case anyone was wondering, the Lansing resident is the Governor
  3. Day 7 from Wichita to Waco, gotta love it. One of these days I need to take a week in Oklahoma and go chase
  4. Shades of 2016 here folks. I believe that was the 9th-10th because the Masters was on, but nearly a foot fell in some locations across the Toledo area. April 20th getting this much snow is cool, but not completely unheard of.
  5. Haha that’s honestly hilarious
  6. Fauci needs to be fired because he's been a walking contradiction. The NWS doesn't say head to the basement for some tornadoes, they say take cover and head for an interior room for all tornadoes. This guy needs a lesson from President Biden, simple and consistent messaging about this virus.
  7. Isn't it crazy? January/February was just miserable, now it's like Las Vegas weather here on a daily basis
  8. High of 80 today. Awesome pool weather at the moment
  9. Is that a stat even kept? Haha I thought most of these statistics stopped at 75+
  10. It is! Hopefully more liberals on this thread stop buying into the panic porn and fear, and start believing real data. Recent Gallup poll showed that 70% of registered Democrats believed the hospitalization rate was 20% or more, with 41% believing the rate was 50% or higher. The actual rate is obviously much lower. Let’s focus on the science folks, things are getting much better overall with some bad pockets. Individually get your vaccine and get back to living your life
  11. I will say too this thread continues to fascinate me. Politically I’m pretty down the middle but moving right before this occurred to a fairly conservative state I think affects my POV quite a bit. Even in conversations with family, they seem shocked at how open and chill it’s been around here
  12. Oh absolutely. But we’ve overall done a great job juggling being open while keeping people safe. I have a lot of coworkers in both Canada and Europe and it’s intriguing how much fascination they show in how life is here. Just a ton of fear and little hope over there, while even our President believes life will be normal completely by July 4th
  13. Have to say I think when all is said and done, the USA will have handled this the best. Have some Canadian counterparts (office in Mississauga) telling me that Ontario is pretty much under martial law (cops can pull you over to ask where you are going) and that even outdoor activities like golf are banned. Meanwhile a young person like myself was able to get fully vaccinated relatively easily
  14. Man this thread makes me not regret my decision to accept this promotion I'll say this, we have not hit 80 much which is rare for this region by this time of year. Overall a chilly April for the Eastern CONUS
  15. http:// https://www.newsweek.com/michigans-top-health-official-vacations-alabama-after-whitmer-tells-residents-not-travel-1583686?amp=1 Cant make this stuff up guys. Michigan’s health director took a vacation in Alabama after telling people the state needs to lock down.
  16. Because it’s a 1 in 1 million chance of getting blood clots while we still have hundreds dying of this pandemic daily
  17. He came on NBC News tonight with Lester Holt and said he supports this decision 100% and that we need to investigate before anymore doses of this vaccine are administered
  18. Need to fire Fauci folks. This cancellation of the Johnson and Johnson shot is the last straw. Pure fear game with that guy
  19. Haven't seen hardly a drop in the Lowcountry for awhile
  20. Well it's causing a little friction I'll tell you that, this is a very proud people down here and being Southern is a very important thing to them. For example many towns in the Charleston area push back against national chains because it takes away from local businesses, this is why things like Dick's Sporting Goods and Buffalo Wild Wings are a rarity here. One thing I've seen though is the more liberal folks have taken to Colorado or a western state as the transition to this city has been bumpy for many of them to say the least. With the exception of GA, I don't see any of these states flipping because those who adapt to the culture are those who stay long term.
  21. Wrong. Companies are moving along with their people en masse down to the South. How do I know this? Because I’m one of those people lol and so are many of my friends. The sun belt migration is on full bore here. Talent wants to live in cool places with nice weather, it’s why Nashville, Charlotte, Charleston, Atlanta, Birmingham, Tampa, Austin, Dallas are absolutely exploding. Then factor in that these companies are moving factories here to avoid unions and opening up downtown offices for their white collar personnel in a more business tax friendly climate. Cap that off with a more friendly weather climate and you’ve got a boomtown. Sorry about the OT rant, feel free to delete Hoosier
  22. Have you ever played a sport? Not being mean but if you’re trying to get gains and max out, this is not doable at hone unless you have some serious setup. Also you have to have a partner to spot you as well. Running actually hurts getting bigger
  23. Michigan hitting another high today. I think it’s extremely apparent that this partial lockdown stuff just does not work. You either do what we did last Spring, or open everything up and require masks. What’s happening in that state is the equivalent of hiding in the bathtub with an EF4 coming for you
  24. It's been beyond brutal lately. Out camping a few weeks ago by Lake Murray I went to bed with an N95 mask . Might need to throw the dirt bike goggles on if it keeps up with this as I look like I'm consistently stoned
