Radar makes it seem like a few showers are moving through, but I’ve had steady to heavy rain for the last half hour at least around Newark.
Yup, it was just pouring on the UWS. That makes three days in a row with heavy rain.

Just had a decent little batch of rain come through, dropped .20" more. .26" on the day with 3.12" since Friday night.
Interesting, the radar says what rain?

Folks I usually only pop in during winter here, which is appropo as it might as well be winter.....I can't remember so much cold in May as we've had the last few years. Decades ago I could have most of my garden going by now, but the last few years? If you plant summer crops ( Mother's Day was traditionally the safe time ) they are going to die or be in such shock they won't fully recover. Plus, all the rain is disgusting. Question, are these the climactic conditions we needed in winter? Canceled a fishing trip this weekend.....brrrr...
I lost two cucumber plants so far. Other plants like eggplant are in shock. Tomatoes which are so strong they are basically weeds are static. We’ll see what’s alive by Wednesday

ripping at 2k at the base of Stratton. So the snow levels dropping

Just brutal out today. Peak of planting season has been destroyed. Not a fun year to be in the landscape design business. I’m now a week behind. The silver lining is it’s great for new plants that are in the ground. (Minus my veggie garden)

snowing nicely on the mid mountain cam.

Starting to get muggy on the uws. Hoping we see some decent rain later so I do not have to water the hundreds of annuals I installed this week!

Make it end.
Agreed, with out sun reaching the coastal waters they aren’t warming up. It’s going to be a while. Although this will pay off in early summer by muting any potential heat at the coast. (Except for any straight west flow heat days)
one thing for sure though is plants love it. The grass on my campus is about as green as I have ever seen it!

Yeah definetly feels cooler than yday and more breezy. Today was suppose to be the warmer day. Still a nice day. Look like mostly low to mid 60s in NYC depending on how close to water you are.
It’s warm up here on the UWS. Another outstanding day!

I like the lagging nino for next winter. We should see what we had wanted to see last winter. The closer you got to the coast the more pitiful it was.
and today was amazing for outdoor work. I would take that 365

I have yet to receive a shower or measurable precipitation this week, had fog one night that made things damp. New grass is parched, unreal.
Yeah it hasn’t been the wet pattern that was advertised. Only .10 last night in wantagh. Meanwhile 5 miles to my north had at least an inch. Micro climate at work with the warm season dry shore

Missing the rain right here near the bay as per usual. Getting some thunder and flashes though

Luckily it looks as if cloud tops are warming as it begins to interact with land on the NW side of the core. Still gonna be a big hit for them.
Not a great track for a high end landfall. Trajectory has too much land interaction before landfall. Good for what I assume are poor people living in substandard housing. All of the money in India is in the major city’s with the rest of the country still relatively poor.

Pouring here
Yeah it it was just pouring on the uws. If we are going to have all this cool and cloudy weather we might as well have the rain to go with it
-
Where’s all the rain? Still waiting on the uws. Holding off on watering some new plants.

This pattern is awful. Make it stop
I agree, brutal. The only silver lining is that it’s great for lawns and perennials. I haven’t had to worry about watering.

Nasty out today. Definitely stuck on the wrong side. A nice warm week to our south.

Some good lighting with the storm currently over Nassau . Storms to the sw are looking impressive

Today was about as perfect of a day as you can get to work outside. Nice spread out rains have been great for plants as well.
-
Just started coming down in the city. Screwing up my outside work for the day.
-
Just went from light drizzle to steady rain with small drop size. You can tell this was snow not too high up with the offshore flow. It’s probably snowing above 7,500’ based on the mt. Washington obs.
-
Absolute steam bath in the city right now. Building up low level instability.

It’s pouring on the uws, rates are definitely heavier then what you would expect from the radar. Small droplet size with snow likely making it down the column pretty far before melting.
