  1. Okay friends, I have a hypothetical scenerio for you to decide on. You're offered an iron clad contract stating, that the Pittsburgh metro area would receive one major snowstorm ( 12-24" ) per month, each of the next four months, Dec-Mar. However, outside of those four storms, hardly any snow would fall. Do you sign ? Yes or No.
  2. Hey, mabey we can get a low to stall out over D.C. next time. Yeah right. Lol
  3. Speaking of long duration storms, 22 years ago tomorrow was the best snowstorm I had seen up to that point. Having an early dismissal before lunch was always a bonus. Plus being a walker, we were allowed to leave right away, while the the kids who rode the bus had to wait.
  4. Keep the moisture train going. Hopefully we can maintain a pattern of gulf moisture all winter. Even if we have to ride the rain/snow line at times, with enough opportunities we'll cash in on a few.
  5. I know l know, but this cold air is a waste, without moisture. All it's doing is costing me money. Lol Might as well just be in the 50's. Rant over.
  6. Unfortanatly we've picked up where last winter left off. Cold and dry, and just warm enough for rain. Hopefully the STJ will be more active this winter, giving us a chance to cash in once or twice.
  7. Wow, sorry to hear that.Unfortunatly, the way my sick mind is wired, I would be at a family members funeral checking the latest GFS run for an approaching storm.
  8. Are you still down in Emsworth ? I remember living in Coraopolis, the low elevation killed these early season, marginal temp storms. Even 2/5/10, it had begun to rain around 5 pm, before quickly changing over to snow. For about an hour though, I was mentally distraught. Lol Yeah, living down by the ohio river, you were either fighting climo or elevation.
  9. Just a reminder for everyone to use this thread for any issues with each other, as opposed to the main thread. I know it's tough sometimes, but it helps to keep everything on point, when a storm is approaching. Also, for anyone outside our region that feels the need to meddle in the buisness of this thread... don't. Everyone is welcome to join in any discussions. The self righteous, D-bag, example making policing isn't welcome.
  10. Mabey it wouldn't have made the most "buisness" sense, but signing morneau, bryd, and burnett in the off season could have made the bucs a real pennant contender in a weak N.L. Polanco still would have been called up. But instead of depending on him to save the season, he could have been used to give the the starters a few more days off.
  11. Oh ok.I never heard of radarscope before today. I saw it avaialble on the google play store. It looks like a good app. Is it worth the money in your opinion ?
  12. Thats sucks. Most of the time I use the wunderground app radar, it's pretty good.
  13. In other news, the bucs did nothing to help out a tiring bullpen. A decent reliever or two, would have been nice.
  14. I know my post last night was a bit oversimplified.lol Of couse getting a good storm is not that easy(see March 2014). But last Nov. and Dec., we had some nice opportunities. And with a similar active pattern, especially in Jan. and Feb., we could do well storm wise.
  15. I've noticed a few early winter discos around the board. Because it's never too early to discuss next winter lol. For us it's pretty simple. Provide enough moisture and energy from the STJ, and eventully a big storm will hit. As long as it's cold enough when the time calls for it, were good.
  16. Mabey it's just perception, but what's happened to the classic squall line with the passage of a cold front. I remember when I was younger, the entire wnw sky black with the approach of a long line of storms. It just seems like we rarely get a solid line of storms approaching from the west.
  17. Some of that cooler air over in Philly would be nice right now. I miss having central a\c.
  18. Looks only 3/4 full at Pnc Park tonight. Pens game kinda stole the Pirates national TV thunder.
  19. Interesting belated fact. 3.1" of snow fell on may 9th 1966. That would be alot of snow on april 9th, let alone may. And tying that into our past odd winter. The last daily recorded snowfall over 3" was January 25th.
  20. In a winter dominated by cold air, it was never around when needed. Starting with the storm before Thanksgiving, all the way through today... Go eff yourself PV, thanks for nothin'. lol
  21. At least you can say the season has been consistent. Plenty of moisture, no cold air. Cold air, limited moisture. However I am a bit bullish on the first half of April.
