  1. Good day to get out and run some errands, because it appears the radar is gonna be ugly. The GFS/GFS-FV3 was insistent on a shutout, and so far it's verifying. SMH
  2. I try to keep a balanced view, and stay positive. But sometimes it feels good to let the hate flow. Lol
  3. Being the coldest snowiest location in the Ohio Valley, is like being 9-6-1 in the NFL and missing the playoffs. Smh. Lol.
  4. Maybe if the wall doesn’t get done, we can get a petition going to bulldoze the Allegheny Front and Laurels, from about State College to Deep Creek. Those whining central and eastern PA folks don’t know how good they have it living east of the Apps. Lol.
  5. Living on a SW facing hill, I tend to lose snowpack pretty quickly, especially with SW winds. But it looks like everyones snowpack got decimated this weekend.
  6. It’s been a long time since we’ve had a US 119 special. Hopefully this will be the year.
  7. See what happens when winter gets off to a normal star, we can actually enjoy this mid winter break. Chasing snow into February causes every missed storm to be magnified.
  8. Oh yeah, SNE has been winning in general for a long time. They're naturally going to have better chances at snowstorms, just because of geography. But the last 15 or so years, has been win after win after win. Lol
  9. Lol. I wish it was only 4 or 5 years. BTW, saw the 12z Euro make a jump SE with the low next Monday night. Mabey we can get some snow to rain to snow action, like the old days.
  10. Once he hit the ground short of the goal line he technically became a runner, so the the control rule shouldn't have applied after he stretched out. Although, that third down play is what killed them. It's TD or throw away there.
  11. One question someone here might know. In NOAA's NCEI storm events database, where does the removed event data go to ?( i.e. pre 1996 winter weather etc. )
  12. Unfortunately I could only find clips for this storm in your area. (Pgh was kinda screwed, while State College got 2 ft) Anybody remember this storm. ( 3/1/94-3/3/94 ) It appears ORH did ok.
  13. We're in the colder snowier section of this region. But unfortunately this is our climo region. I never wanted to believe that this is our region, but when you look objectively at our climo, you can't deny the facts. Welcome to the snowbelt of the Ohio Valley. Lol
  14. Last real snowstorm for the metro back on 2/21/2011. This was a thread the needle type, that gave a relatively narrow area 8-9".
  15. http://www.wpxi.com/weather/chief-meteorologist-stephen-croppers-winter-weather-forecast/464949044 http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2016/10/27/chief-meteorologist-jeff-verszylas-2016-17-winter-weather-forecast/ Wtae was similar to kdka. It's still early, but for the second year in a row the warmer less snowy forecast is leading the way. Although Cropper waiting until 2/3 of November was over, and still including it in his forecast is weak sauce.
  16. Wtf. Gift card spam link.
  17. I know it's been kinda rough for awhile, but hopefully your patience will be rewarded in November, even there on the west side. Also we tend to do better here in Pgh, when you folks on the west side do well. So I'll be rooting for y'all. lol
  18. On a side note, is Kamikazees on 30 still open ? And if so, do they still do the topless (sometimes everything) bartending evening service. Went there with some co workers about 10 years ago, and it was interesting. LOL
  19. I'm probably in the minority, but I like the forecast for the next 7 days. If I can't get a decent snowfall, it might as well be mild.
  20. The numbers don't lie when it comes to KPITs' 10"+ storm climo, compared to east coast locations. KPIT : (4) 10"+ storms in 35 years Dulles (D.C.) (5) 10"+ storms in the past 6 years Great program though. I don't remember 2-28-84, however the PSU e-wall site shows it as a rare, rain to heavy snow event. http://mp1.met.psu.edu/~fxg1/NARR/1984.html 12-11-92 might be my favorite, just because it was the first big storm I was aware of. (Sans the 4-4-87 heartbreaker) I remember trudging home through the heavy wet snow after a pre-lunch early dismissal, but loving every minute of it. Lol.
  21. Not really bitter today, just a bit dissapointed overall. We got the duration, but just couldn't get those heavy rates here. But in reality, outside of an occasional superband, like what the mid-mon valley saw last night, we're just too far away from the coast to get those double digit storms here in Pittsburgh. Nice job also with everyones input this week. Especially the Colonel, for all the map data going back before the Steeler game.
