Hopefully we can get some scraps off the NW flow occasionally.
Unfortunately CAD does nothing for our immediate area.

Nice to get on the board before things quiet down for the near future.
Looks like most of the county got a solid 1-2”.

Classic turnpike band setting up on radar.

This worked out just as I thought. Last night was minor and I was sleeping anyway so I didn't miss much. Today I spent the morning and early afternoon in Butler and just drove south through these snow bursts. A heavy burst right now and about 1.5 inches of snow on the ground. Like I have said before I would rather have the snow falling when we can enjoy seeing it fall as opposed to waking up to it already on the ground and shoveling it. As much as last weeks light snow under-performed, today was an over-performer.
Solid lake enhanced NW flow FTW.
Nice to see early season LES.

Nice to take advantage of the warm lakes early in the season.
Recent November cold shots have been with a WSW flow.

1.7 inches of rain on my dad's weather station in Gibsonia PA
The PWS near me has about the same since midnight.
Hopefully we get something close to this snowfall wise, come this winter.

I was still living in Philly at the time, so not sure if that's the information you're after, but we managed a little over 12" (most all of it was on the 6th, but a little fell before midnight). Our bigger storm was a few days later on the 9th and 10th. There we pulled >23" and some of the heaviest snow I've ever seen in person, with visibility down to about 200 feet.
Oh ok, I forgot you were living in Philly back then.
Basically I was just thinking how many years its been since the whole region cashed in on a big storm.
I remember there being a screw zone from about Mt Pleasant to Morgantown, precip stayed rain until about 10pm. Snow totals were closer to 10-15" unfortunately for some folks.

Remember when September used to be a cool month? I don't know if data confirms this, but it seems like we're losing four seasons and basically contracting down to two (6 months of summer and 6 months of winter). Looks like the heat will continue into October again.
Always remember it being warm the first couple weeks of school (always started after Labor day), but not mid summer like humidity.
Side note: Do you remember how much snow you got from the 2/5/10 storm ?

Hope for the best, but expect the worst.

Any big winds with that bow echo, for the north and west posters ?

I haven't posted in here in a few months or so. It's been a really rough 3 months for me. My wife passed away from cancer recently so I've been kind of a mess over that. I would like to get back to posting here regularly again. I need to get back to my hobbies and need distractions.
Anyway, it looks like we have an unsettled week coming up. Had some pretty good storms move through late last night. Hope we don't have a flooding repeat from a year ago. These wet summers are getting old.Condolences to you and your family, very sorry for your loss.
Yeah, it would be nice to get through the summer without the damaging floods.
And hopefully we get some legit storms to track and verify next winter

Dumped the gauge at 9:45 PM, 3.10" and getting another round of heavy rain and lightning.....it's been constant since 5:30 with brief lulls. Seems like the 5th or 6th round.
Very impressive for storms that were moving at a decent clip.
SPC forecasted that enhanced severe area well.

So far all of the storms have been north of the city. Hopefully one of these babies can get further south. I'm doubting it.
Probably gonna be a race between the boundary pushing far enough south before the best dynamics move east.
Reminds me of being on the southern edge of a WSW. Lol

TORNADO WATCH OUTLINE UPDATE FOR WT 274 NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK 145 PM EDT TUE MAY 28 2019 TORNADO WATCH 274 IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1000 PM EDT for our area
Peak climo period, along with favorable WNW flow should yield widespread results.

Guessing by the number of posts everybody faired about the same as me this evening.
Just a brief moderate shower at my parents house in the west end.

Haven't been able to use the NEXRAD radar correctly since yesterday.
The site itself seems buggy.

FV3 still likes Sunday morning for some accumulation.
See if it holds on.

Kinda disappointing how much cold air and moisture got wasted this season.
This week would have been great for a big storm.

Looks like we’ve been sucker holed here in the metro.
Better lift in convergence zone to the north, and developing coastal to the SE.
-
Bit of a dry slot in the region, hopefully we get in on some banding later on as the system consolidates.

Far northern areas could have some slick roads throughout the night. Splitting the county probably isn’t an option for this occasion.
