  1. If we can get a nice 6-8” thump before sleet and a dry slot, that’s the ultimate outcome with a storm tracking over us or to our west. Can’t ask for much better than that in our area in this type of setup. Man… Just imagine we could somehow get the SLP / the 850 low to track to our south. This would be a monster. Afraid we’re too close for that drastic of a trend but damn, it’d be nice. Whoever stays all snow just NW of the fall line is going to get destroyed.
  2. So… PARA or bust? LOL… I definitely would not be mad at that solution, even though we eventually change over. Looks like a ton of snow to sleet to ZR here.
  3. For real. There’s actually quite a bit of guidance hinting at a reloading of the pattern in 2 weeks. I’m over the doom or gloom nonsense. Wooo, it iced and rained instead of snowed because a storm tracked west of us.... winter must be over. Give me a break. It ain’t over til it’s over.
  4. Wifeys car is an ice sheet. There are icicles connecting the ground to the bottom of her car. Pretty impressive. Rates are perfectly light for accretion. Going to be an ugly night.
  5. Lucky! Appears your tiny bit of extra latitude is keeping you out of this as I get the northern extent of it. It’s been sleet here mainly
  6. Unreal. Oklahoma City forecast calls for 8-12” and temps don’t get above 10 degrees the following few days. Seattle is also cold and very snowy. One things for sure... if those two cities are cold with heavy snow, we sure as hell aren’t.. Goddamn TPV. Crazy how quickly our cold and snow went away. Could have been an epic week. Appears the Midwest will get that now.
  7. My freshman year of college was spent in Oswego before transferring to the University at Buffalo. The year I was up there was the “10 feet in 8 days” year in February 2007 (winter 06-07) We got over 240” that season. The snowiest parts of the tughill surpassed 300. It was an insane 90 days of weather. Buffalo was also quite snowy, but more cold than anything else. The city of Buffalo itself isn’t in the best location for persistent lake snow being on the NE tip of Erie, but when the fetch and steering winds align SW over Erie.... look out. The “October storm” was quite memorable. Nearly 2 feet in mere hours with thundersnow. I’m not sure I’ll ever get the opportunity to live in such a snowy place again. Apple isn’t based in any super snowy cities or areas :(
  8. It’s flurrying in Columbia. I only know because I’m at a meeting and it’s boring as all hell. Not sure it deserves an OBS but damn it I’ll do it anyway.
  9. Right?? Holy hell. If snow is such a necessity for your happiness, move to Vermont or Maine or something— like that guy who comes in here every year just to troll us about the 200” per year seasons he gets up in New England now that he’s left Maryland. Don’t get me wrong - I can imagine in a winter where some folks have barely cracked 5” on the season, seeing 5-6” of snow happen to your north one night and the south of you the next must be extremely defeating as a hobbyist.... but y’all, if lack of snow makes you THAT miserable, may I suggest taking up knitting or something lol
  10. Down in Columbia for a work meeting in the AM. Snow shower in progress. It’s purdy. Looks like heavier snow is trying to make its way into dale city and south dc per radar
  11. I meant for the dc folks. They just cannot catch a break
  12. If it snows 5” 30 miles south of Dc.. there are no words.
  13. Doesn’t look all that surprising to me based on the overall look here. The high pressures are great and all, and will keep the surface very cold - but if you look at 850s, that low track screams southerly winds into the mid levels. There’s not enough confluence up north to overcome that as depicted.
  14. I hear that. I think there will be a lot of ice up in these parts. Next Tuesday may be our best shot at a mostly snow event, but I have a feeling we are in for a dangerous amount of ice come Sunday morning and again at the end of next week. Of course climo is more favorable here, but as you said, h5 doesn’t look great and it’ll take a lot of needle threading to get a significant snowfall - even up this way.
  15. At least you won’t lose tons of sleep tracking them! Ice storms always seem to be the ones that pan out nearly verbatim from a week away.... 6-12+“ snowfall depictions? Not so much
  16. Definitely much better. Give us that primary low at the KY/VA border transferring to that southern most 1005mb low and were in business that sub 100mb low near Erie PA can eat my shorts and get on outta here. That would annihilate our mid levels
  17. Looks like forecasted highs were fairly spot on up this way. I’m at 31 currently. Does look like temps will bust a little low closer to the cities however
  18. Yup. Just as all of those random blobs of snow in the midst of the freezing rain VA will pan out verbatim
  19. prepping for an obligatory deck pic tonight!
