Nice to see the updated 2-5” call by LWX pan out this evening. Glad I got SOMETHING appreciable today to be able to send some decent snow shots back to my folks up in NY. Theirs are putting mine to shame. I don’t like being out snow- weenied by my parents .

Don’t look now but.... LWX already has the entire area under a winter storm threat for day 7. Euro dumps 30-40” on the entire area between now and 2/11. Of course, don’t take these amounts literally, but I think this storm may be the beginning of a truly special February for our parts. EPS / GFS long range looks pretty surreal. Hope everybody’s gotten at least some of this second batch and is enjoying a wintry evening! It’s been a hell of a headache to track this thing, but I’m honored to do with you all.

It was no doubt waaaay too generous with snow totals. But... it did sniff out that precip would make its way back into our area with the coastal.

Can confidently call this some rippage... Thank you GFS, for scoring this coup.

PS - next Monday’s forecast: high of 17 low of 1 Going to have lots of cold air and an active jet to work with starting this weekend into next week and beyond.

Remember - for folks in the eastern half of the CWA not seeing much right now - you’ll get some of this on its way out of the area as the storm moves away

Really impressed with the models that had bands making it all the way back toward Dc today. They never backed down from that idea and it came to fruition. The GFS was definitely out to lunch on the 12 inches in Baltimore today idea, but it had the right overall idea with evolution. Going to be interesting to see how this all plays out in the next few hours.
