Just drove the kid to Rutgers New brunswick. There wasn't much going on here but as I got to the Raritan River all hell broke lose. Intense sleet bands near Douglas. And kids walking around in pajamas ( kids today ). It was pretty bad, but kinda peaceful from the car. back in Woodbridge now to light snow and the normal precip hole.
They expected rain sooner, and in some areas there was some brief drizzle but it switched back. RIght now is an all out sleet event. Sleetstorm must be in his glory.
I don't think so. It is horrendous out right now. People just don't take things seriously enough. It's just not bad all over the state. But it's pretty bad here right now, and lights are starting to flicker.
It isn't nothing even down here. Right now it is pouring sleet. Really hazardous and wouldn't go out if you don't have to. If you have to it's passable, but I'd postpone the saxophone or karate lessons....
I think for our area everyone expected some snow then sleet. If it had started earlier we had a shot of 2-4. Looks like it will make it to 2 of sleet; I've had a few light spells but it has picked up again. Tested out the new snowblower on the sleet and of course it went through it like a knife through butter. Will have to see what happens when we get a deeper event ( likely next year IMHO )
Well we aren't even getting heavy sleet....I'm getting light sleet and it looks like things may even be breaking up. Dry air intrusion? SUbsidence? Someone needs to look into why NE Middlesex Co always seems to be in the subsidence/ dry air zone. This would definitely be called a dusting when I was a kid.
Yes. It isn't all about accumulations. School days are built in to the calendar. Unlikely we'll use them all this year. Perhaps they should do SEM by county, as clearly some will be more impacted than others.
It won't be a nothing burger up there. However, it is not that bad down here in CNJ ( techincally this is barely NNJ but whatever ) but still not a nothing burger. If you don't drive carefully you can get hurt, simple as that.
ANd just like that it is sleet. We will not seen anywhere close to the high end. really needed that early start. Not surprised. Conditions are not terrible and Rutgers will resume classes at noon. Kinda sucks for my son, has classes til 8. Should just be plain rain by then but I don't trust these forecasts. Could be ice. Worst thing to drive in IMO.
