  1. I don't much mind the sleet but i can do without rain.
  2. I don't own any tools. Not my thing. It's under warranty and I have the number for a shop.
  3. The big disappointment for me has been the performance of my Sears snow blower. If it can't thrown an inch more than a few feet, I mean really...
  4. My cousin used to live near there. He's a judge now. Time passes. I used to take the kids to Roosevelt before they put up the skating rink. Last time was the big Jan 2001 New year's blizzard.
  5. Well Im south of Manhattan, but really i can see the skyline from the highway here. Not saying much cause its a big skyline but we don't always get the same amounts.
  6. I doubt it.Just across for SI here and just about an inch and been snowing on and off since late morning.
  7. Is that the Toro single stage that actually performs almost like a two stage? Forget the model...
  8. Looks nice out, but goes in the books as entirely forgettable. Started up the snow blowers to see if they still work, my 10 year old MTD from Costco ran and sounds better than the Sears Craftsman single stage which I bought last year. Maybe there wasn't enough snow for it to work well, but it was loud and ran rough. God help me if I need to change the sparkplug, you have to take the whole thing apart. I'm so sick of expensive crap that works once ( if that ) and it's done. Good luck getting anyone to honor a warranty; the list of exclusions can make you dizzy....
  9. Pretty much when Dec doesn't deliver you can count on low amounts ( at least in CNJ ) for the remaining season, with some exceptions of course, because it's weather, and you never really know; I can remember a few decent and even big storms after crap Decembers, but not many. Thought this Dec would be different when we started with early snow, but it may have been a bit too early, ( early snows seem to signal less snowy winters, and yes I know the sample is small so spare us ) and then nothing else for weeks. Now things can still happen, but most folks will tell you they are pleased to get through this much of winter with no serious snow. I got the snowblower ready this morning ( this is the kiss of death ) and I'm pretty confident I won't need it based on what I see unfolding. And March in my area is not the time for big snows. That leaves Feb....
  10. It eased up here already. Came down hard for a bit and pfft
  11. Snow started like a wall now down to light in about 30 minutes.
  12. One of the great character actors of our time....
  13. Hadn't thought of that. Someone had asked me the same question about an hour ago, I said I didn't know as it was not a big enough event to be worried about, and that it should turn to rain anyway.
  14. I didn't know it was a contest. Can't people here have a discussion without calling names ? Not referring to you.
  15. Really? I've never done anything but give you respect. I expect the same in return. Sometimes not responding is the best option.
  16. Newark is maybe 20 minutes north of me and yet there are many times it gets a few inches more
  17. I actually get a kick out of your posts. With the lack of big storms the past few years we've lost some of the nastier types, who couldn't tolerate any comment at all that wasn't discussing some model output. It made for tedious reading. Your posts are rarely tedious, I'll say that.
  18. Well the fires in Australia are extensive enough that they are expected to have some effect, though I am unsure if that will cause any cooling.
  19. Trouble is people prefer to listen to the weenies, in general....
  20. Good point, others have observed that as well, no in-betweens, at least it seems that way.....I've said 8 inches was considered a big snow storm when I was a kid.
  21. But how much lee way is there? And you have to look at the planet in total. Just saw a headline that 2019 was the 2nd warmest year. Didn't click on it, too much else going on in the news right now, and i"m tired....
