  1. Nice thump in CT Saturday evening before any flip to ice on the euro
  2. Going to a wedding in CT this weekend. Would be nice to see some wintry precipitation Saturday night. Let’s keep trending colder haha
  3. Yup. I think our first shot will be near or just after Christmas. I always like looking at the models in the long range once they sense the block. The gfs at 06z was really showing that in the long range
  4. -nao already working for sne this weekend as it looks like they will be getting a decent snowstorm
  5. You will have storms coming out of the southwest with the trough off the west coast. The northern stream disturbances wouldn’t have much room to dig IMO. Our best chance would be from a swfe. I know day 10 but the euro had a tasty look on the op for Christmas. Just shows the potential
  6. Eps agrees with the retrograding block
  7. Should be a pattern filled of swfe events with the chance of snow to rain depending on the strength of the block
  8. I remember when many said the nao wasn’t coming because the euro didn’t have it…
  9. Eps gone wild with the west base block by the 20th
  10. I think things will improve for the coast after Christmas but best snow chances will be closer to the new year. I’m hopefully we see the pac improve by then with p8-1 of the mjo through January. The dry pattern doesn’t really concern me as it’s just a product of the -pna.
  11. Gefs trending colder as the -nao is beating down the se ridge
  12. Weeklies finally picking up on the mjo progression into the colder phases. It’s also nice to see substance forming in the base state we have had this past fall.
  13. Weeklies very blocky from xmass to the end January
  14. Eps really trending better in the 11-15 day. Stronger -nao which is muting the -pna.
  15. I’m not sure why someone would forecast a weak SPV when it typically gains strength in December. Typical Niña climo usually has December the best month for cold/snow. But lately none of these typical base state normalities seem to be working out
