Heavier snow is just reaching Elmira moving north northeast. Should reach Syracuse in about 2 hours.

The band has moved just north of Chicago now. Looks like it’s over Evanston.

This is a stupid map. So the heavy snow reaches Rochester around 10 then takes 2 hours to reach Sodus? I know it’s a generalization but I hate things that don’t make sense.

I was going to mention that this seems like a spring snow even though the temperature is only 29. There’s no accumulation on my driveway and just a slushy accumulation on my deck. The midday mid-February sun is doing its job through the clouds. I’m kinda glad that this storm is happening overnight.

I feel for you guys. You’re in the position I was in 20 years ago. I took care of my mom for the last 4 1/2 years of her life when she went into kidney failure and had dementia. Not only is the physical part of the care difficult but the emotional side of seeing someone you love decline takes a toll on you. I wish you the best and just remember to take care of yourself.

That taint line on the GFS is right over my house as it is on a couple other models. It’s going to be interesting how this plays out, I could end up with 4 inches or 10 inches. This initial batch of snow is moving in and reports upstream (Wellsville, Penn Yan) have visibilities under a mile so hopefully we can pick up an inch or two from that. edit: visibility is 1/2 mile in Wellsville at 11 AM

Watching Mike Seidel on TWC in Monroe, LA he’s still getting sleet mixing in with the snow. He’s on an overpass over I20 and about a half hour ago a heavier band moved through and precipitation went over to all snow and visibility fell to a couple hundred yards. The temperature is in the teens, normal high is low 60s.

When we both worked we used to do that. The only trouble is getting hung up at the end of the driveway. I’ve done that a few times luckily I had a neighbor stop and help my wife push me out. Now we can take our time getting the snowblower out.

My brother was a missile tech on the SSBN 598 (George Washington) and the Ethan Allen back in the 60s. He got a chance to test launch a few Polaris missiles. He still reminisces a lot about those days.

My niece who lives in Fort Worth posted these graphics from the NWS in Fort Worth on Facebook. These are extreme conditions for that area, look what happened down there yesterday with a little freezing rain. She said they’re telling people how to stay warm if the power goes out since they’re expecting power issues.

It got down to -8 F last night according to my weather station. It’s up to a balmy 5 right now.

Good for you, these unexpected events are the best. I think your snow burst is almost over as the area of snow is drifting to the south.

I measured 0.8 inch of fluff and I swear there was only 0.02 inch of liquid in the tube. That’s a ratio of 40:1.

Somebody said the path was similar, it was not.
