  1. Several years ago channels, 3,5 and 6 were purchased by the same company. In a cost saving measure they decided that they would only operate one news room. That’s why you see Peter Hall on both 3 and 5. I don’t know if you’ve checked out channel 9’s weather forecast. They tout themselves as central NY’s most accurate forecast.
  2. 3.2 inches at 8:30 and another 1.7 after that so just about 5 inches here too.
  3. The band is cellular not solid. I’m getting heavy snow right now when a few minutes ago there was nothing.
  4. It was a very unusual game because of the weather. To me the difference was Harris’ run and the ensuing 2 point conversion. That kept New England just far enough ahead where Buffalo needed a touchdown instead of trying for a field goal when they were in the red zone in the 4th quarter.
  5. I wouldn’t put a lot of credence in the GFS in the long term. The variance between runs have been enormous. Here is the same snowfall map from the 0Z run.
  6. I’m just north of you in Brewerton and I’ve gotten just over 3 inches so far and still getting bouts of heavy snow.
  7. I just measured and there was a little more than I thought, 3.2 inches.
  8. Good placement of the band this morning, too bad it’s cellular in nature. Just eyeballing it looks like about 1-2 inches overnight.
  9. Wind shifted here about 3:20. The temperature has dropped about 5 degrees since then down to 45.
  10. It looks like we’ve reached the high for the day and are starting to cool off. The high at the airport on the hour was 14C. We’ll have to wait for the climate report to see if enough sizzle worked in before the frontal passage to reach 60.
  11. KSYR seems to be stuck in low 50s (11C) so it looks like 60 might not be attainable after all. 49 right now at my house with light rain.
  12. Somebody recently talked about the climate at Quebec City. It’s hard to believe that as we’re in the 40s Quebec City is at 14 degrees.
  13. Might as well go all out and shoot for 60. KSYR currently sits at 44 and rising.
  14. Don’t be surprised if we don’t hit 60 before fropa tomorrow.
  15. The summit of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea are above 13,000 ft., basically 600 mb level. I’m not sure where the snow line is but I’d guess around 10k ft.
  16. I know it’s the GFS at 384 hours but that ridge covers 85% of the country.
  17. The taint line is awfully close. Then after this there’s several cutters so whatever falls will be gone in a blink of an eye.
  18. The line of scrimmage would have to be inside their own 10 yard line.
  19. He might be able to throw it 100 yards in one direction but only 10 in the other. Maybe the record for the longest field goal will be broken.
  20. The 12Z GFS trolls all of us on the lake plain from Rochester east. This is turning into a real yawner. I got a big 0.6 inch yesterday. That makes how many dustings, Matt, and how many more to go?
