  1. I say keep your expectations low (which I don’t think is hard for you) and hope for a surprise. I get the feeling elevation is going to play a role in accumulations. Temperatures will be very marginal, especially on the lake plain.
  2. This would be our best bet for significant accumulating snow. Too bad its a week out.
  3. Euro has a wave forming on that front over the southeast. It brings snow/mix into the northeast later Saturday.
  4. I think we made out pretty good here. We might have had a few gusts to 50 but the only damage I’ve found was my decorative flag and pole was ripped out of the side of my house.
  5. It’s only weather, your life goes on regardless of what it is. Someday you will have perspective.
  6. Based on living in the Mohawk Valley for most of my life, there are many times when the cold (cool) air never gets scoured out.
  7. They are talking about this on the Weather Channel now. It’s being described as a mass casualty incident. N
  8. Hopefully they can build the snowpack in the mountains so they’ll have water next summer.
  9. I’ve received 15.9 inches this season so far including 10.8 inches this week. Last year at this time I was at 7.8 inches, about half of this year.
  10. My niece lives just west of Central Square and she posted pictures on Facebook this morning. It looks like she got close to 10 inches there.
  11. Nice little overachiever last night. Measured 5.7 inches this morning, 0.31 liquid. All this will be a memory after the next 2 days.
  12. That has as much chance of verifying as the Giants have of winning the Super Bowl this year.
  13. Coming down pretty good here even though the radar looks meh.
  14. Revracer in Hannibal must be getting hit pretty good right now.
  15. Oswego County airport in Fulton reporting heavy snow.
  16. That V in the returns looks like an arrow pointed right at me.
  17. Off topic but have you western NY people heard that there’s a car in the rapids on the Niagara river yards from the falls? Not many details yet. https://www.localsyr.com/news/state-news/see-it-car-submerged-in-rapids-at-edge-of-niagara-falls/?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=socialflow&fbclid=IwAR2hnKUKcbBsAJa0xmq16tSs11X2x2jxS8cdt2-x3Grr2L1rqGGgnWGu5k4
  18. I’ve been fortunate enough (knock on wood) in my 48 years of driving to never have been in a major accident. But I have had several fender benders that can be attributed to winter driving conditions. My wife, on the other hand, had a serious accident on I81 near Pulaski in February, 2014 during a lake effect whiteout. She used to commute daily from Brewerton to Lacona. That day she left work and ran into a whiteout. An earlier accident had traffic stopped in the road. She saw that and stopped just behind an 18 wheeler. As she sat there someone in a SUV came flying down the road and clipped her in the left rear. The force pushed her into the back of the 18 wheeler’s trailer. All the airbags went off and she was pushed into the driver’s door. They took her to St Joe’s in Syracuse. Fortunately she didn’t have any broken bones but the soft tissue injuries took months to heal. That shows the danger of being stopped on a roadway. It also shows the need to drive under control in winter conditions.
  19. A 0.2 inch dusting overnight puts me just over 5 inches since the snow started. We’re supposed to get another period of snow later this afternoon before the torch melts what we have on the ground now.
