  1. Like I said earlier, the band is losing it’s intensity as it moves south. Look how the eastern end is collapsing and it hasn’t even left the lake yet. It’s like a hurricane after it makes landfall. 10 miles north of me and it will be half the intensity when it gets here.
  2. After looking at models I think the band will be in our area around 8 PM. At the rate it will be moving south I don’t expect it to be over us more than an hour. Plus once it falls off the lake it will fall apart quickly. I don’t see us getting the 6 inches you’re forecasting. I’m thinking 1-2 inches max.
  3. 2007 - Called “Winter in a Week”. Channel 9 did a half hour special at the time. I have a copy of it on DVD somewhere.
  4. Interesting view from my Ring camera this morning. It faces almost due east so north is to the left and south to the right. As the sun rises you can see the heavy cloud cover from the lake band to the north while the skies brighten to the south. I am close to the southern edge of the band. IMG_1168.MP4
  5. I’m not sure exactly where you are in relation to Pulaski but I think you’ll be in the middle of it soon. The band is still moving north.
  6. The center of the band appears to be right along the route 104 corridor in Mexico. I might have gotten a couple of inches overnight but right now I’m right on the edge watching a flake fly by every now and then.
  7. Look at the intensity of the band just north of you around Perth. It’s only about 3-4 miles wide but is probably producing 1-2 inches per hour. I assume you’re south of that. Just like me it’s very frustrating to be a spectator in a front row seat.
  8. Right now it’s a spray of snow off the lake. We need to have this consolidate into a single band.
  9. Here’s a camera on the SU campus. https://www.maxwell.syr.edu/quadcam/
  10. Look at the area covered by this storm. That’s what I love about synoptic systems, they can affect large areas.
  11. And don’t forget Wolfie who covers the north country for us.
  12. With the wind this is going to be a hard snowfall to measure.
  13. The temperature is down to 30 here. Anybody that depends on plowing to make money has had a slow season so far. They should be making up for lost time over the next 36 hours.
  14. Nothing like seeing a foot of lake effect compact down to 6 inches in a day.
  15. I had 33:1 yesterday. I ran the snowblower just to have a practice run before we get a big one and it was like snowblowing styrofoam.
  16. That guy is a real a**. I guess they don’t teach professional conduct at that grad school he’s attending. If he keeps this up the only place he’ll be able to get a forecasting job is Siberia. Also, he probably wasn’t even alive in 1996 so where does he get the right to criticize a meteorologist probably in the middle of his career at the time.

NYZ018-036-101815- /O.CAN.KBGM.WW.Y.0003.000000T0000Z-220111T0600Z/ /O.NEW.KBGM.WW.Y.0004.220109T2100Z-220111T0600Z/ Onondaga-Madison- Including the cities of Syracuse, Hamilton, and Oneida 108 PM EST Sun Jan 9 2022 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 1 AM EST TUESDAY... * WHAT...Lake effect snow expected starting tonight. Snowfall of 1 to 5 inches through Monday morning, highest along and north of the Thruway. Snow may start as a squall with winds gusting over 30 mph at times. The main snow band may drift north on Monday before returning Monday night with additional accumulation of 1 to 3 inches. * WHERE...Onondaga and Madison counties. * WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 1 AM EST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Binghamton thinking like me. Forecasting only 2-8 inches for Onondaga County through Tuesday morning. Of course they usually forget there’s part of the county closer to Oswego County weather than the rest of Onondaga.
  18. My wife takes our dog for a walk after her breakfast and she said it was really icy.
