We just got a fluff squall here, easily dumped almost an inch in like 15 minutes and then it was gone. -

The barest hint of whiff of a trace of a coating on unpaved surfaces over here. It was a joy to watch it come down all day. -
1/6 snowstorm - nuisance event or something bigger?
CoolHandMike replied to LVblizzard's topic in Philadelphia Region
Yeah I should have mentioned that it's not the flight I'm worried about. She's driving from Phoenixville during what could be the first real snow any of us have seen in a while. You know how it goes. -

Wouldn't you know it, a close friend of mine just booked a flight out of Allentown (to Florida) for Monday at 4pm. I really wish she would have asked me first, or at least checked the weather. Here I was, all hyped to track this storm, and now I'm just worried. -

That's gotta be based on old data. The models have all been trending north for 3-4 runs now. Unless he knows something we don't. Which he probably does, I'm not a met. -

Ok. So. I've been a winter weather enthusiast for a pretty long while now. I'm familiar with Kuchera, but what's this new "Cobb" thing everyone's suddenly on about? I don't recall anyone mentioning it before now. -

Yeah that one started out really pretty, and at least we got snow TV most of the day before the rain started. I think we have a couple of slushy inches by the end of it. -

Interesting to absolutely nobody but me, our forecast temps were supposed to hit 39°F today, but only barely reached 33. We were also forecasted sunshine from 10am until sunset, but the sun only finally peaked out around 3pm. I, for one, was happy to have a mostly cloudy day, as I love these kinds of days. And we still have the odd patch of snow on the ground from a couple days ago. Happy boxing day, everyone. I'm interested to see how tomorrow goes. -
Finally, a dusting. Nice to wake up to falling white precip for the first time this year.

Did not have "spring-type thunderstorm knocking out power to my hotel in November" on my bingo card. Whelp... Flashy-flash! Thunderboom! Aaaand there goes the power. I'm in Newark, DE for work, and it's 11/20. But hey, at least it's freaking RAINING, finally??? So I guess we've all got that going for us, which is nice.

1" of rain since early August. Loving the cooler weather (finally) but cheese and rice will it please just rain again. Getting pretty depressed continually not seeing even a hint of rain in the ten-day forecast. WTF is even going on.

.01" for the night. What a lovely time watching all of these storms blow up all around me. Looks like I'll be watering the garden again tomorrow. What a joke the forecast turned out to be this weekend. Hope somebody cashed in at least. It wasn't us.

I went outside just now to bring the trash can back in and whoof! The smoke is back... I could sense it in my lungs for a full ten minutes after spending just a minute or two outside. It appears we have a new season. Smoke season. I am not a fan.
-
Can confirm, we got 1.21" in a very short span of time. It even managed to flood out parts of Rt 12 near me. I was pissed. I left a box of small fireworks outside to play with while I was grilling, and then we went inside to play pictionary and I forgot all about it. Completely ruined. I just hope my smoker is ok once it dries out because I was letting it cool down before I put the cover back on. Oh well.

.01" here for the day, partly sunny now. Kinda meh but hearing lots of thunder in the distance.
-
My PWS says it's 95 out, and I was all, "that can't be right, can it?" Well here's the local weather station: We went outside to put some bird netting over our berry bushes and were pretty much instantly drenched. SO GLAD I moved all of that mulch yesterday!!!
-
.89" for the night. I think we're past it now, not bad.
-
Ooh, getting that familiar distant rolling thunder right now. This is gonna be spicy. I'm here for it!
-
.55" here. Looks like some heavy thunder boomers might make it to us in an hour or so.
-
It's nice to have a non-apocalyptic, regular summertime thunderstorm for a change. Moderate to heavy rain, occasional, far-off thunder booms and very little wind, even with the gust front. My garden will love this.

I don't like the look of that cell SW of Carlisle:

Just moved ~5 yards of mulch to the back garden. I am beat. And also drenched, but hey, at least the sun wasn't out! Had to do it today or it would have probably sat there until October the way this year is going... Blech:
