I’d tend to agree with this. If you believe the idea of warming, which I do, I think it lends itself to a more amplified pattern. Possibly with random visits by the vortex. Nobody really know. I think the biggest problem for us Matt, is that we live at temperate lake plain. The ADK’s are where it’s at. Or on top of the Tug. They’ll still get lots and it’ll stay through the transient warm spells.

Fantasy storm is gone. Like every other one this year. Colorado is having fun. I’d bet it’d be a great time to ski out there!

Terrible year. Couldn’t agree more. I truly think next year will be better. Can it be worse? Lol So few real systems. It behaved almost as forecast for a La Niña year but I think for different reasons. My bro in Philly had a great winter, as one would expect from La Niña. Nothing really made the turn. No great coastals (that I recall). Lots of let downs. 10 day looked great over and over and over again, only to fall apart in the last few days. I guess Toronto did well in the first half. So did Cleveland and Detroit. Remember all those storms cutting NW? That was fun. Anyhow...I’m rambling as usual. It sure looks like it’s over.

There are so few roads up there. Has anyone found a good topo map and discovered a reachable location? We really should go in on a simple camp. I’d bet we could get one for 25k. Lol. 5 of us- that’s 5k each. We could build it. Ain’t no building inspector up there. Trust me. I’ve seen the existing structures. Sometimes I look and think, ‘nobody could possibly live there’ and then I’ll see some creature pull the curtain (tarp) back on a window (plastic sheeted opening in a wall). Lol

I think there’s probably areas with more. That said, it’s pretty incredible they still have 2 feet. I think it was Wolfie who mentioned there aren’t any good sites for higher elevations on the Tug. These are the freaking towns. I bet there’s 3 foot totals still. And they haven’t had shit for 3 weeks.

There wasn’t a single storm that impressed me (for my area). That Binghamton storm was one for the ages. Very few LES also. I guess that’s how Rochester is 20” shy of normal after a great February. Just got back from the Tug. As I said before, West Leyden and Ava are unique areas with big snow.

More of the same. We just could never get them to ‘catch’ right.

Thanks for thinking of me! It’s melting fast here in the SW corner. But there’s still a bit. The SE corner of TUG still had a bunch. Driving through West Leyden it looked like 24-30”? Above the tires on abandoned work vehicles. That town is unbelievable. It always has a ton. Headed to Snow Ridge today and I’ll see what’s left there. I’d also like to make it a bit higher to Whetstone Park in the Tug- they usually have a lot. Barely any good ways into the Tug (in a car) from the East side. It reminds you of it’s rural nature.

West Leyden still has snow up to the windows of the abandoned cars in yards. And they are all abandoned up here.

Yeah, I’m thinking this could be another finger lakes hit. As Delta mentioned, the winds are too strong; especially for the lake plain. Need a little elevation to make this one work. You’ll notice Tim ain’t even here...

I hear ya. Thanks for the pep talk (was it that?lol). It’s more the rain I’m concerned about. Base is 18-40”, so it SHOULD survive. It’s just amusing that THIS forecast has literally been a lock for 3 weeks when a decent forecast has difficulty surviving a single 6 hour iteration. Lol.

I’ve been watching the weather for this next weekend because I’m going skiing in ADK’s. For a solid 3 weeks it’s showed incredible warmth and rain. Not one run has it vacillated. It’s comical because we’ve lost a GOOD forecast inside of 6 hours. But this one has been etched in g-d granite. And it will be crap. Oh well. We’ll still have a good time. We’ll have to take the focus off of skiing and put it where it should be- on each other. Family time!

My questions too. Someone mentioned that it could be due to liability. In some countries, cancellations are directly tied to these products. sounds as if they are going to warnings or nothing (other than a vague text product nobody will read). Maybe it’ll be as great as their new radar roll-out! Lol. Just kidding. They do a good job for the most part.

I’ll believe the warm up when it happens. About a week ago, we were looking at a warm up for now. These backdoor fronts are murder to predict. They sometimes hold on much longer than the models expect. Unfortunately, our storm set up has gone to Bermuda.

YeH, we have about 5” in the field at my folks in Pittsford. Neighborhoods in Irondequoit are showing a ton of brown grass. Huge snow mounds remain. Some of the meso models show a couple/ few inches over next 48 hours. Wouldn’t surprise me. Limiting factors are the wind and dry. It’s always disappointing to get a long duration north wind event only to have it crushed by dryness. EVERY DAMN TIME. Lol. Should be pretty windy today for you!

Last night pretty much did it. All our snow is gone (tear).

Irondequoit spent the entire day in the upper 30’s. I took the dogs for a walk and I was as cold as I’ve been all year. A chill, damp wind was blowing that I wasn’t expecting- not to mention it was about 12 degrees colder than advertised. I’m guessing it was the lakes doing? On the positive side, I’m thinking my ski trip, to the Tug/ADKs, in 12 days is no longer in any real jeopardy. Maybe even get some fresh. Nobody knows. Lol

You ain’t kidding! It’s been a long winter of every synoptic potential just dying. At least for us! I remain hopeful that March can deliver one or two. The overall set up is there. I’m wondering about blocking though.
