  1. GFS Operational was much better all last winter as compared to GEFS.
  2. Wow. The mid ranges really busted big on this storm. 3” to showers.
  3. They have a few places to stay on the Tug. Motel type places for snowmobiling. One of them looks kind of quaint.
  4. Scott Hetsko, reiterating a point I’ve been harping on for a while: He claims we’ve now had 3 winters of less than 100” of snow and that it hasn’t happened since the early 80’s. Due! It’s all cyclical. Not really based on science but rather the law of averages. Of course a smart person could post the snowfall from the 50’s and really put a hurt on my enthusiasm. Either way, it looks like we get a taste in 2 weeks or so. So glad to be back and a heartfelt thanks to those of you who sympathized with my dad’s dementia diagnosis. I love this group!
  5. My dad and I golfed every month that year. We did it simply to say we did; the golf wasn’t great in January or February. Now that he has dementia and can no longer golf I’m glad we did it. Great memory if nothing else.
  6. Man o’ man. These LR’s sure have been depressing the last few days. That SE ridge is starting to feel permanent. Puke
  7. I don’t know about you guys but this junky is getting itchy for the good stuff. I literally cannot wait! Bring it!
  8. Probably doesn’t have to do with their worse than useless interactive software. Just terrible stuff. Whoever ok’d that should be fired. No, tortured.
  9. I’m down for La Niña: https://www.rochesterfirst.com/weather/weather-blog/taking-a-look-back-at-some-of-rochesters-biggest-snowstorms/
  10. Sounds good. I have ski plans in February but it’s up at Stowe, which is pretty far Northern Vermont. They do pretty well even in mild winters. Also expect to be out west at least once- either Jackson or Wasatch. Both? Lol
  11. Guys, gut thoughts on the upcoming season? I’ve seen some fairly pessimistic guidance over the last couple weeks and also some ok stuff. I’m hopeful but it’s just based on anecdotal lifetime experience. We’ve now endured three tepid winters and I feel like that cycle has run its course. I’m hoping on some prolonged cold and some solid LES. It would be nice to not be in the 50’s on Christmas! Can we avoid the dreaded SE ridge? Will November and April steal the cold? Will we only have one good month like last year? Or can pull out a freezer like early 2000’s? I, for one, think we are overdue for a blockbuster storm! A crippler! Lay down your predictions!
  12. I’ve seen it too, in my hospital. Fortunately; and as expected, these breakthrough cases have been nothing more than an inconvenience. The vaccine continues to provide excellent protection against severe cases. We continue to see catastrophic cases in the unvaxed group. Anecdotally, the breakthrough cases have been among those given Pfizer over 8 months ago. Moderna seems to be holding
  13. Except that the huge majority of deaths, in NYC, occurred prior to a working vaccine. The other states incurred their deaths as a result of eschewing vaccines. you should consider getting your news from someone other than Hannity. See what I did there? Lol
