  1. I've got +/- 2 inches of solid ice on the driveway. Put 200 pounds of salt on it earlier and it is just laughing at me. Driveway is about 1/4 mile long and only really worrying on the inclines - we are about 60 feet below the road. I teach salt application trainings for public works and well in this circumstance everything I preach will go out the window because I could not get out to the road right now if I had to.
  2. Front has not reached here yet - temp has not changed yet.
  3. I would say just a hair under that - I hate trying to measure accretion.
  4. It will be quite interesting to see what happens. The whole house generator may get a workout. The power has already been flicking all afternoon. So many really dead rotting ash trees waiting for gravity to win and this may speed this up.
  5. Is the colder air still expected to come into NW CT to come in around 7-8:00? Man, the ice dangling in the trees is going to be something when the wind comes up. Right at 32 degrees now.
  6. Trying to tickle to 32 here (31.8) but the trees have really started to accumulate ice. I'm at 1000 feet in New Hartford, not sure what it is in the valleys around me. If the trees don't shed before the wind picks up - oh my. Heard a couple of trees snap down in the woods.
  7. Light coating on everything here in New Hartford - 22/15
  8. First few flakes coming down - sky does not have the usual menacing look to it like it normally does when it means business.
  9. Died back quite a bit right now in NW CT. Hopefully comes back.
  10. Just picked up a quick 0.24 inches in a quick downpour.
  11. Wild 6-7 minutes here in New Hartford. Probably took 10 years of life off the electronics with all the power flickering, going out and coming back on. Power on here with the storm past.
  12. Green haze in the air today from pine tree pollen around here today.
  13. Pretty Awesome - cell phones do much better with aurora as compared to eclipses.
  14. Nicely here now. Clouds have cleared for the most part.
  15. The high thin clouds are obstructing it - definitely a source of light not normally there to the north but scattered by high clouds.
  16. Some clear patches here in New Hartford - looking north-northeast there is a dim glow that is not normally there - enough to make out the tree branches on the top of the tree line. I know right after I go to bed it will get interesting...
  17. Just got back from Burlington to New Hartford. Traffic for a Tuesday morning was pretty heavy, but nothing like yesterday. Absolutely nothing compares to this. Amazing seeing the wall of darkness race out of the Adirondacks across Champlain followed a couple minutes later by the wall of light doing the same. A couple of coworkers were saying that we were at 92% that should be close and I was not really sure. Glad I made the trek because this ain't like grading and exam 92% does not equal 100%. Great photos everyone - I quickly gave up and just drank it all in.
  18. I guess I'm getting old - we had t wait for Bob Steele to read out the names in the 70's on the radio every half hour. That was the only source.
